January 05, 2007 LLEYTON Hewitt's coach Roger Rasheed has quit his role with Australia's No. 1 tennis player.

Rasheed made his decision known via a statement tonight, saying: "This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make, but one I felt I had no choice but to make.

"Within the current environment, I don't believe it is possible for us to get the results we are looking for.

"The timing is not ideal, but I feel that it is in both of our best interests that this decision not be delayed."

Rasheed and his partner recently became parents, but he said that had not played a part in his decision, and also added he would be very happy to coach another player.

Like his previous coaches, must have got sick of him and his antics!

Nope, it's the parents. The parents are the cause of all the problems.

That arrogant father of his and that pushy dumb broad he has for his mother cause too many troubles in the Hewitt camp. How many coaches as he had now? Clijsters also left him because of his parents, don't be surprised if Bec goes soon as well.

How could you possibly know its the parents fault? If i was coaching an arrogant ******** like Hewitt i would get sick of him sooner or later as well.

It can be confidently stated that his parents are a big influence on his c unt attitude, considering that their parents are known to come across as ********** aswell.

It doesnt excuse Lleyton for his attitude, but his attitude is a product of the environment he has been brought up in.

His parents have played a pretty big role lets just put it that way. If it weren’t for them chances are Darren Cahill would still be his coach and he would’ve achieved a lot more than he has.

Hewitt pulls out of Sydney

Lleyton Hewitt has withdrawn from the Sydney International, citing a calf injury, hours after his coach Roger Rasheed's abrupt resignation following Hewitt's ignominious and accusatory exit from the Adelaide International.

A coaching association that began in mid-2003 when Hewitt was the world No. 1 has ended with the former Wimbledon and US Open champion barely clinging to a place in the top 20. Thursday night's loss to 94th-ranked Russian Igor Kunitsyn severed a relationship that started in its present form when Jason Stoltenberg resigned in 2003 and Rasheed was promoted from his role as fitness trainer.

Stoltenberg had followed Darren Cahill, the architect of Hewitt's rise from precocious teen to world No. 1, who quit at the end of 2001 over reported tensions with Hewitt's father, Glynn.

Well there you have it shiva.

But this is big news, first he loses to a relatively unknown in his hometown tournament, then his coach quits, and now he pulls out of Sydney. Lleyton had a bit of a dig at Janko Tipsarevic after he withdrew and basically said he was "faking it". I wonder the just how serious this calf “injury” is. What are you doing Lleyton? :(

Hewitt is difficult, his parents are muppets, but Rasheed is a dud.

Hewitt needs to convince Roche that when he finishes with Federer to climb on board. And f*** the Griswalds (his parents) off.

It's got to be the parents. Hewitt is the way he is because of his pushy parents. When he was growing up he had to do everything spot on or his father would crack a spaz. Yes, I got this from a reliable source. His father is the biggest ********er out of them all and his mother is just a deceiving witch.

The poison environment around the Hewitt camp isn't going to suddenly lift, I fear.

Interesting to see Rasheed did not even wish hewitt well or said "good luck" like Jason did.Interesting.

"Today I have given Lleyton Hewitt written notice of termination of my contractual arrangements with him," Rasheed said in a prepared statement. "This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make, but one I felt I had no choice but to make.

"Within the current environment, I don't believe it is possible for us to get the results we are looking for.

"I love the guy. I still believe he's one of the greatest talents in professional tennis, and most ferocious competitors in the game. I believe in Lleyton as a player and still believe he's capable of winning Grand Slams, but I feel the only way I can make a positive change to his environment, and mine, is to walk away from one of the great coaching jobs.

"My time with Lleyton has been extremely rewarding and challenging and I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching at the highest level. I have also thoroughly enjoyed my time on the road and even though my wife and I have just become parents, I wouldn't hesitate to jump back into a similar role, as this is the easiest time to travel with a family.

"I absolutely love the sport of tennis and look forward to the opportunity to be involved in a coaching role in the future. I wish Lleyton all the very best of luck."

(its the parents IMO)

Yeah I have to agree. Sure Hewitt is a nut, but his upbringing couldn't have helped. If it was me, I wouldn't want my parents following me around everywhere. They could sit in my box at the Oz, but no way would I let them follow me around the world. I'd take the Marat Safin approach to filling my box.

When he was like 12 or 13 years old playing juniors’ in Adelaide his old man used to make him walk home from a match if lost his game that day.

How old is he? 25 or something. Cut the parents and do your own thing. It would not surprise me if they watch everything Lleyton and his wife do!

Notice no denial from the parents..........

Actually the way I understood it was that Glynn used to make him run home to West Lakes and he would drive the car next to him to make sure that he did run all the way home.

Some people that were close to him as a junior were very happy to hear of his involvment with Kim and how she actually focussed him and the person he was when he was with her. But then the parents intervened and the rest is history. Kim actually came for a very similiar background to Lleyton and she had come out of it as a very well rounded mature person, it's a pity that Lleyton couldn't seem to follow that example.
