Ive just recently been listening 2 some of their stuff nd I reckon it is great. I was too young to really appreciate how good it was when they were successful.

What do other people think about them?

My first fave band (picked them up way back in primary school) and still bloody awesome. Read today that I Knew I Loved You and Truly, Madly, Deeply still get continual airplay over in the States...if that isn't the mark of a successful band, I don't know what is.

On a related note, Darren Hayes' new double album This Delicate Thing We've Made is released this weekend. Been looking forward to this for yonks.

It's released today but I'm hanging out for the limited edition next week.

They played it over the speakers at his instore in Sydney and he played some songs from in at Manchester Lane earlier this year and it's set to be absolutely phenomonal. I just hope that people pick up on it and buy it :( I think most people have already written him off as that dude who write wet ballads. (which I guess he does, but his other stuff is amazing!)

I can't wait. It's killing me. I feel like going out and buying his album today and then just buying the limited edition when it comes out later. Which would be stupid. Ugh.

Sold a lot of albums so people must like them. I'm assuming mainly females and homosexuals.

You know that's what I thought too? But I've been to a lot of Savage Garden / Darren Hayes gigs, and there's always been a large male contingent. Just not up the front. I always wondered about them. If they were husbands/boyfriends that got dragged along but they weren't.

These days there are more males up the front, but they *are* obviously gay.

Not really my thing but they do have a couple of great pop songs and DH has a nice voice and is a top guy as well.

Limited edition? Goddamn it. What's different about it, do you know?

As you might have guessed, I went and bought it today...:(

Yes but now you have it, and I am Darren Hayes-less. Except he was just on Australia's Funniest Home Videos so I had to sit through it just to see him. I'm still not sure whether it was worth it.

Umm, the differences between albums are completely superficial. There are only 1000 of them to be sold in Australia, it comes in a suede clamshell box, has a doubly thick booklet and an origami bird.

I just know I'm going to love this album, so I might as well get the pretty one.

Have you listened to it? Favourite tracks?

great interview with Darren Hayes in the Herald Sun on Thursday :thumbsu:

as for the band, I rate them quite highly. not really my style of music, but the production was quality, Daniel Jones was an obviously talented musician, and Darren Hayes' voice was one of the best of the era

that said, I think it's a bit unfair to lump them into the 'soppy ballad' category. obviously, they had their fair share of soppy ballads (my mum loves them, incidentally), but some of their best songs (like I Want You and Crash and Burn) were really pacy, and stood out as some of the best songs of the late 90s

their videos were a bit dodgy though :o

Only 1000, eh? Sounds interesting, even if its totally superficial :D. I might wander down to JB Hifi next Saturday and see if there's one there...and decide then.

Having my first run through now. Hasn't grabbed me as instantly as Tension did, but it's not too bad. Song called Casey goes alright. But it's deadset massive, so it'll take quite a few listens to get a good grasp of it.

Yeah and you get lyrics in the booklet, which is always nice. I love How to Build a Time Machine. I think Casey's mostly about his sister. But yeah, have no idea how to go about listening to a double album.

That's it, I'll have to get it. I was a little disappointed when I flicked open the booklet to find no lyrics. Should be a compulsory inclusion with every CD IMHO.

Did you guys see Sunday this morning? They did a piece on Savage Garden ,talked about DHs childhood, the break up of SG etc. Strange they now dislike each other.

Yeah I saw it :) It was a nice in depth interview. Weird that they'd even go interview his high school music teacher though.

I find it a bit odd how much his husband is happy to be in the public eye these days too.
