Rate a swans player, past or present. You know the threads, someone names a player, then the next poster has to give that player a rating out of ten and also name another player for the next poster to rate.

Fosdike was probably just a good solid player. So if 5/10 is average, I guess a 6/10 for Fosdike. Was never really a standout player, having said that he is extremely unlucky not to be a Norm Smith medalist. I'll always remember him for that performance.

He should've won that Norm Smith...Judd didn't do anything noteworthy.

Gotta give Maxy around 8.5 - he was a great kicker of the ball, kicked a 70m goal against Port once, was a great captain. Remember his sealing goal against Melbourne ANZAC Day 2003...great captains goal to cap off a great comeback.

Ball was definitely an above average ruckman. If 5/10 is average I'd give him a 6.5/10. Capable of going forward and kicking multiple goals and an exquisite tap ruckman at his absolute best. Injuries hurt him though. Supremely important part of the '05 flag.

This is stealing AG. I am calling the lawyerz. :thumbsu:

As for Ben Matthews.

A solid role player, who was a crucial part of the teams he was in. While not the most flashy, you could always count on him to get the job done.

6.5/10

5.5/10 based on what he's done so far. I think he'll be closer to an 8/10 at his peak.

Arsey player who could pull a trick or two out of the book but then frustrate you with the most egregrious of mistakes or plain laziness.

6/10

Based on his career at the Swans, 0/10 lol.

Dan Hannebery
bedders is being very cheeky, there was a Matthew Lloyd that played for the Swans in the 80s I believe, only about 10 games or so.

Came to the Swans and had an immediate impact. Won the B and F very quickly and proved to be incredibly flexible and versatile despite looking like a 60 year old man. Was our swing man for a little while to pretty decent success in the early 2000's and did it pretty well. Was one of the 2 signatures I got on my hat the day after the '05 flag in Melbourne (the other was Buchanan).

Exemplar of a team player, always did the job asked of him whether in the midfield or off the half back flank. He had a deceptively large kick for a shorter man, and I loved it when his bombs from 50m out would sail through the goalposts

Good start to his Swans career but a lazy player by the end of it. Real liability in defense as a result

4/10

Jarred McVeigh

May be a contentious one here. Very good skills, excellent runner and has fashioned a strong career at the Swans. Perhaps he hasn't lived up to his abilities, perhaps he has. Seems a very strong leader around the club. I'll give him a 7-7.5/10 based on the rankings that we've been seeing so far I think that is about fair (though I guess it depends how everyone is ranking). Has scope to go higher of course.

One of our best ever recruits, Willo provided some much needed class, pace and skill to our midfield brigade of hard-nuts. 2-time B&F winner, All Australian and premiership winner.

Stepped up in 1996 to help us toward making the Grand Final when we needed a Ruckman and got us a 1st Round Draft Pick off Richmond when we need one to get Barry Hall, when he wasn't worth even a 3rd Round Pick.

On the above 10/10

But in truth 3/10

Me:
Best player ever
10/10

Everyone else bar me:
Talented, skillful small forward who had a great eye for goal and strong hands for his size. He kicked bundles of goals in the reserves and justifiably earnt a chance in the seniors. However he was used out of position, playing quite high up the ground and struggled with his much smaller frame against the bigger men.
2.5/10

The counterargument to those who think we product great ruckmen;)

Came into the side in '05 after being picked as a rookie draft selection and played some promising games in his first year. One in particular was a 3 game cameo against the Dogs at the SCG that helped us win that match. Had burgeoning hopes for him after that and thought he and Grundy (another rookie tall at the time) could grow together into a strong KPP combo but it didn't happen. Vogels was also unlucky that he happened to come into the club at a time when MOL, Hall, Barry, C.Bolton and LRT were our main KP players. Was always going to struggle for game time with that lot ahead of him.

3/10

Ed Barlow

Edit: Damn you Grim. I'll change mine from Schneids to White Goods then.

5.5/10 hasn't lived up to his high draft pick, good player but won't be remembered as a champion
