Rate our team in comparison to the rest of the AFL. Split the sections of the ground up (Putting in your best 7 defenders - 6 Midfielders - 7 Forwards - 2 Ruckman) Then rank it out of 16. 1 being the best and 16 the worst.

Backline: 5/16
Scarlett, Harley, Egan, J. Hunt, Milburn, Rooke and D. Johnson

Midfield: 8/16
Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Ling, Kelly and Enright

Forward: 11/16
Ottens, Mooney, Chapman, Stokes, N. Ablett, Mackie and S. Johnson

Ruckman: 14/16
King and Blake

While those players are running around we would be 16th and 16th for backline and midfield. Those players should not be in the team.

Sub in David Wojcinski to defence and Chapman/Prismall into the midfield and I think it would follow as such:

Defence - 4th

Ruck/Midfield - 10th

Attack - 8th

Defence - 2 (Adelaide ahead)
Midfeild - 11 (Car, Ess, Coll, Bris, Rich, Nth behind)
Forward - 7 (Ade, Bull, Car, Coll, Haw Nth, Port, Rich, WC Behind)
Ruck - 9 (Ade, StK, WB, Haw, Coll, Car, Syd Behind)

That is how I rate it with the Forwardline potentially being Top 3 if Ottens & Mooney play to potential.

Backline:
Egan, Scarlett, J.Hunt, Milburn, Harley, Wojcinski

Midfeild: Bartel, Corey, Rooke, Enright, Prismall, Mackie, Ling (Ablett, Chapman, Stokes part time)

Forward: Ottens, Mooney, Ablett, Chapman, N.Ablett, S.Johnson, Stokes

Ruck: King, Blake, (Ottens part time).

Why is Wojcinski so important? He may look great prancing around with the ball but he is not accountable enough for his man, which is the primary job of a defender... He doesn't even hurt the opposition with his disposal either?? Why is this guy rated highly by some of you?? I'd really like to know???

I reckon that looks about right....

I don't know about rating him highly - but he is the only one with genuine leg speed in defense. You are right in that his disposal could be better and he could be more accountable. But on the positive side he provides a lot of run out of defense - with Egan, Milburn and Harley we are a little slow down back and don't initiate much attack from these players. Woja at least can "run through the lines" and catch the opposing teams defense out as they haven't had opportunity to organise themselves. That is one of my gripes with Ling. He stops the flow of play and gives the opposing team time to flood back or at least get themselves better organised. It is predictable and it is crap football.

pretty much all duds backline 5/16 midfield 9/16 and fowardline 16/16:D

you could add Bartel and Gazza to that list as they are only 22, man we are gonna be a killer outfit in 3 years time.

Yeah, but what about Scarlett, Harley and Milburn? They will all be past it and we will be relying on Egan, S. Hunt and Grima. IMO we will have one of the best midfields (Prismall, Selwood, Bartel, Ablett, Stokes) and forward lines (Hawkins, N. Ablett, Chapman, SJ, Varcoe, Djerrkura) but our backline will struggle.

Dazza'll keep going for at least another 2 years.
And Mattie's just reaching peak now, so we may just be alright on that front. Maybe we could pick up more defence newbies next draft?

Yeah I reckon defenders and Ruckmen will be in need of a close look in this years draft.

With the recruiters we had last year I say we retire King, play Blake and West and take an awesome ruckman in our 1ST ROUND and then look for promising defenders in the rest of the picks.

Sounds like a plan there.
Now if only we could get someone in the picks pickers.....
