Rats is much maligned on this board. He has had some serious learning curves in the coaching box, but tonight was one of his greatest shinning moments.

He conceived a game plan that completely tore the saints apart, he knew speed would kill them and it did. Credit to the players for executing it to a tee :thumbsu:

Dropping Warnock last week for Sauce is just an example of how well Rats is going at the moment as a coach. Two teams with much bigger bodied rucks and he brings in a rookie and drops a 211 cm high profile recruit.

Much credit to him and the MC for sticking with Russell as well, when the rest of us gave him hell.

Well done Rats you deserved this win :thumbsu:

on ya baggers!

I actually think this year as a group they have improved significantly. There have been plenty of signs all year which suggest they are getting better at it.

With a brains trust such as we have in the box, it's just a matter of time before they click...too much football nous for it not to happen.

How good is it to see Harvs sitting there plotting the Saints downfall as well?

I am going to sit patiently and wait for all the usual Ratts baggers to come in here and eat crow and say that Ratts is doing a good job.

But I am going to be waiting for a while I think.

Ratts is learning faster now that he is getting games behind him. And dropping a couple of high profile players has finally divorced him from his mate's wiht the players attitude. Now he isnt afraid to drop the big names if it is required.

Now we can get down to our main business in football... winning ****ing premierships!

Haha I forgot Harvs...I'll edit my post and make sure he get's a mention :thumbsu:

how good was the footage pre game and at half time of Bomber and Harvs having a go at them over the Collingwood game.

Harvey - "So how many of you can actually say you beat your man on the day?".

The thing is we are a young side, and we sometimes mentally get ahead of ourselves. Beat Geelong, get rolled by Collingwood, beat the Saints ... we could easily go to AAMI next week and get rolled by Port. Then the sack Ratts threads will get bumped again as though the genius of this week never happened.

It is seldom to do with proper football analysis or tempered expectations, and all to do with satisfying personal frustration, and alas it is inevitable.

I think that the club is going to calm things down this week... get the boys back under control and get it sorted out so that we go back to AAMI with the same level of confidence again.

Well said :thumbsu:

It's easy to let your emotions run wild after a game, too many times do we let ourselves start throwing blame until we watch the game again/ calm down.

We are a young side, we will have great wins like this and then get rolled too.

That's just where we are at at the moment, but boy it's exciting :thumbsu:

Savour the wins when you can

Pre-emptive strike?

i think some of it comes back to skills and to an extent accountability through the middle. there's no gaurantee we'll be quite so smooth next week. the gameplan has probably always been in place (especially against collingwood, not sure so before that) but we never backed it up with our skills.

just turned the telly on to see rattens being interviewed by riewoldt (love it) and he said that this year is doesnt hype up games as much as he used to. I think thats very important so that the players dont feel to much pressure every week.

Was just about to say, I loved his attitude in that interview, really keeping a lid on it. If we're really going to challenge for a flag soon we need that type of professional lets not get carried away type attitude across the board.

I'm not psychic as to game results, only the aftermath if we lose.

Just a case of being realistic about where we are at. Most young teams go through a rollercoaster ride on their way to consistency, but for some reasons our supporters think that if we can win games like we have against Geelong and St Kilda, that this is our level and we have to match it consistently.

Our level is that our players are inconsistent, occasionally falter under pressure or get outbodied by bigger teams, but will continue to improve until results like tonight are the rule rather than the exception.

All for it, ODN :thumbsu:

It's this sort of moderation that makes this forum a pleasure to be a part of (most of the time :P)

Whilst i have been quite critical of Ratten's performance over the last 2 years, i think he's learning quickly and seems to get better each week.
I've never called for his head, as i love Ratten, and would much rather have him hold up our next cup than some other ring in flog.
And these days i just remind myself that Mark Thompson nearly got sacked a few times at Geelong.

He talks quite intelligently in his interviews and makes some excellent points.

We're still going to be inconsistent, and there's every chance we'll lose to Port this week, but beating St.Kilda and Geelong shows that the team, and the coaching staff have what it takes.

Well done Ratts and co. :thumbsu:

Keep it up
