Channel 7 said the doggies are now a chance to pick up Rawlings with pick 6! We are Rawlings second choice so what's the difference between pick 6 and pick 7  . Rawlings will agree much quicker on coming to Geelong than he will going to the WB.

Come on Geelong get in there and keep fighting. This trade period might not be the shambles I thought it would be. Refuse Hall take pick 20 instead and do that Clarke/#35/Haynes deal and we come out laughing from this week.

Rawlings has made it pretty clear he wants to come to Arden St, I'm pretty sure we'll go in tomorrow with a whole bunch of proposals and a deal will be struck before 2pm.

Understand that and if he does get to North good luck to you. However while there is still hope we should get in there and make life as difficult as we can for North. Surely you can understand that. Even if it's only a 5% chance we should still be in there trying.

It might be worth retaining pick #7 and trying to grab him in the PSD ;)

However, i think the Rooboys and Hawthorn will come to terms today. :(

no chance. All Rawlings can do is nominate his price and contract length. Just say he says 400K for 4 years, The Bulldogs, Melbourne, and the Tigers could all pay that. Same with the Blues. One of them would take Jade before we got the chance.

Our only hope is a last ditch, last minute effort today if the Roos-Hawks deal falls over. I'm sure the Hawks would want something

less than 2 hrs to go and still no deal. 3aw has said on the news that the Cats and Bulldogs are now desperatly submitting offers to the Hawks. Roos still the front runners though.

Well there is still some hope then. Not much, but you have to live with that. At least we know the GFC will be doing everything in their power to get Rawlings to Geelong. Rawlings was so close to nominating Geelong as his prefered club, so maybe if the Roos deal flops he will see some light in coming to Geelong.

Geelong has been SCREWED OVER by Western Bulldogs and Hawks

Apparantly after the North deal fell through, Rawlings was set to come to Geelong. Western Bulldogs, where Rawlings did not want to go, did a deal with the Hawks NOT to trade the player (Veale for pick 6) and not to re-sign him, so he is forced into the preseason draft where WB pick him up.

I'm not a happy chappy

No chance. Rawlings shafted Hawks to look after his own best interests. Hawthorn are now looking after theirs.
Deal with it and move on.

The hawks refused to trade Rawlings to Geelong even though they were offering a similar deal to the Bulldogs. To teach Rawlings a lesson they accepted pick 6 + Alvey (Ess) for a kid taken at pick 65 last year safe in the knowledge that the Dogs would pick him up in the PS Draft. The Doggies only traded that pick because they knew Rawlings would never willingly come to them so they orchestrated this deal in a way around it. Rawlings is fuming!! Basically the Dogs are getting Rawlings and Veale for pick 6 without Rawlings consent to the trade. Hawthorn then ontraded pick 6 for jacobs. In essence they got Jacobs for Veale  . Surely the AFL has to have a look at this. It is a blatant attempt to rort the system Rawlings should sue the AFL for Restraint of trade. Hawthorn the smug bastards have worked this beautifully.

Can Rawlings nominate for the National Draft like Barnesy and Mick Mrtyn have done. That would really **** the Dogs off. They would have to give up one of their early picks to get him.

Sundog..he was out of contract, when people are out of contract they look after themselves...i am p****d off!! never know he could still reject going to the bulldogs could he not?

He cant then nominate the price he wants to be paid. Barnes and Martyn were happy to play for miniumum pay i doubt Rawlings would be interested in that. I am interested inthe Bulldogs salaray cap position the AFL gives them funding on the basis that they keep to prudent financial managment i fail to see how giving a Jade Rawlings a open cheque book meets this criteria.

I spoke to a source at the AFL while being suprised at the move they have no recourse to stop it and will probably need to bring in rules to prevent it inthe future. Sadly to late to help us. Lets hope pick 7 is a gun.

Under the current rules if the Doggies agree to his terms then there is nothing he can do about it. The Hawks have ****ed him over big time. They went out of their way to screw him.

Why don't we just ask for a million or two next year to clear our debt. Obviously you don't have to work at keeping your costs down. The AFL said the bulldogs could pay more than 92% of the cap to retain their players not go out and rort the system.

Bloody AFL, they had rules to prevent this from happening. This was the randomizing of the order of the first four picks of the pre-season draft. You can bet WB wouldn't have traded pick 6 for a 1 in 4 chance of selecting Rawlings. I still don't know why they scrapped it.

This is absolute BULL ****!! We should have Jade Rawlings in the hoops instead the Bulldogs and Hawks **** us over. Nothing the AFL can do about it, my ass there isnt, they ****ing run the league of course there is something, this is blatant cheating. There are penalties for match fixing, well this is Trade Fixing and it ****ing sucks, I feel for Rawlings having to play at a club he doesnt want to, but surely there is something he can do about it, now he looks set to go the the Bulldogs, he should just get there and do jack ****, and **** them over the same way they have done to him. Not play to potential, dont train properly, sure it isnt good for his development, but its what the Bulldogs deserve, I bet David Smorgan must be so proud of himself, the STUPID ****ING CHEATS!!

Time to rort back.

Could Rawlings nominate an extremely high rate, say $1,000,000 for a one year contract, and have an understanding with the cats that he signs on for another two years at $100,000 a year?

yes yes he can.... the dogs have left themselves open to be scummed in the highest degree hypothetically after veale wnt to the dogs what was to stop hakws giving rawlings to cats for pick 7? that would be mega rort

we could never clear that amount of space in our salary cap. A million dollars represents about 16% of the salary cap ( I was always terrible at maths :( so don't quote me) and we just couldn't get down to that level.

Of course we could, just get a few other senior players to agree to a one-off $100,000 one year pay cut in exchange for an additional $100,000 plus interest bonus the following year. No players lose out and we get more room under the cap for the one year necessary.

I think what was being said, is that Rawlings could publicly come out and ask for 800,000 (for example) a year, which is obviously out of the Bulldogs reach, but on the side have an understanding with the Cats that if we pick him up, he will slash that back to something more reasonable, hence the Bulldogs get screwed and we get Rawlings. IMO he should really be looking at this.

He can do the same thing with the Kangas tho. And the million goes towards TPP, can the Cats afford a million under the cap?
