Bigfooty favorite Ray 'Razor' Hall came in and had a chat with Andy and Nick about his 99 game Richmond career. In a wide ranging interview in part 1 Ray talks about his junior career, coming to Tigerland and has a funny first game story.

If his recollection of the 2001 final win doesn't get you in excited then you are probably a Carlton fan. :D

Cheers RTT, enjoyable interview with some great memories and insights from his early career.

Looking forward to part 2. :thumbsu:

As you are the internet's preeminent Ray Hall expert your praise is appreciated .

Btw in part 2 we ask about his loyal and passionate internet support base, and I had you in mind :D.

With so many great match-ups, highlights, controversies and intrigues left to cover, how did you possibly find time to discuss that insignificant stuff...is the next part two hours long? ;)

Will we ever know how he made Fevola completely lose it that night and refuse to shake hands at the end? Or how many different sized boot/sock/bandage combinations he needed to cover every possible expansion level of his ankles during a game? Was there any truth to the rumour that interference from mobile phone towers had messed with his bionic circuitry that day he was 'shot' in the middle of the ground? How it felt to be declared the club's full-back for the next 10yrs by one of the best full-backs ever, when he should have been the game's first defensive CHF, kicking monster goals from 60m out and wreaking havoc with his hardness and defensive pressure?

Four hours? ;)

Bloody hell, I may have to get him back again to ask all of those things. He is a genuinely nice bloke so it won't be a chore.

LOL...it's quite probable that I could think of at least three questions from each of his games and a few dozen more general ones...how many more do you want? :D

Unless I'm mistaken and have forgotten a game, I'm pretty sure that in the two games (three seasons apart) he came closest to being played as a permanent forward for us (I say closest because he still did some ruck work), he kicked 7 goals in 6 quarters, won the only four Brownlow votes of his career, and was then promptly shuffled to the backline or permanent ruck to fill a hole the very next game he played.

The fact he was never given a series of games as a permanent key forward was a great footballing injustice IMO, particularly at a club still searching for a CHF who can do all the things Hall could. He was our potential Leigh Brown X 10 before Leigh Brown's were even invented. ;)

oh dear i think im gunna throw up. a ray hall love fest.

just knew a certain poster would not be able to stay away from this thread.

oh i have a question for the big lug as well.
ask him if he feels remotely guilty for taking all that money from the club for such little return.

Santa when we interview a player you liked then I guarantee you that you will be the first bloke we ask to write a question
