I have enjoyed her commentary what do you guys think of her as a commentator? She has a lot of knowledge I think
 
Yeh she is always good for the special comments while Bruce does the colour stuff. Alot better than having lets say, Tom Williams there.
 
Champion sprinter, champion person and champion analyst. Been very good for years. She is able to get Bruce excited as well. erh about athletics.:thumbsu:

The rest of the athletics commentary team are also good. Best line up 7 have for any sport. Steve Ovett is brilliant in the middle and longer distances and Dave Culbert is very good at the field events and can call track events as well. He is an Athletics Australia selector and was an Olympic and World Champs long jumper. Does a great job with SBS at the world champs. I reckon Patty Welsh at track level is also very good with the post race/event interviews.

I've met her at a couple of functions does that count? Once was at a cancer charity event. No I don't know her but she was pleasant when I was in her company.
 
Raelene can be a bit of a tough marker - if she reckons someone is not up to scratch she lets them know in no uncertain manner. She has been bagging the Australian female sprinters for years, to the level that they are not that appreciative of her comments all the time.

No 'Good try, fine effort' - it's either 'Good enough' or 'Not good enough'.

But she's got the score on the board, so she can say whatever she wants.
 
Steve Ovett is better, but Raelene goes alright I guess........ Peter Donegan is the one who shits me, he'll commentate a bloody Terrorist Attack for fifty bucks. Stick to the footy Pete...... your no good at the rest!
 
Yeah I've always liked her as a commentator and she seems like a top lady as well.:thumbsu:
Let's hope she keeps going for a couple more Olympics.:)
 
Raylene is excellent.

But a bit about Bruce. I think he has made a deliberate effort to tone it down a bit, or has been told to do so. His call of the 100m final was nothing like the usual gushing superlatives you hear from him commentating the AFL.

If you're talking about the 100m final from last night, I didn't watch it but I watched the semis. He didn't seem too excited in that either I must say.
 
Bruce's call of the 100m race was his usual excellent performance. Maybe pre and post race their is less hype. But his line " if Michael Phelps is from another planet, then Usain Bolt is from another galaxy," was a beauty.:thumbsu:

You can tell see really loves the sport. When Liu Xiang pulled out this afternoon you could feel her disappointment.
 
Rayelene is the only thing CH 7 have going for them at the moment. Does she love the Jamaicans or what?
 
I got the Bruce quote slightly wrong. It's "If Michael Phelps is from the future, Usain Bolt is from another planet." I knew a planet was in there.

Heard that one lol, if Bolt wins the relay and the 200 should he get the best Athlete at the Olympics or should Phelp's?

And she praised Joel Milburn for not giving up and hanging tough when it was tough and producing a PB to automatically qualify for the 400 SF with a fair bit of passion. She was making a point that too many of our previous Olympians and world championship competitors have in the past rocked up and not produced their best in the big time. Well said Raelene.:thumbsu:
