To affect change across the league it would require an AFLFA.

Representatives from each club fan base.

18 sub committees that roll up to a league wide association.

The AFL would absolutely $hit themselves at an organised collective fan base that was able to set its own agenda.

The power would be in the coordination to vote with the collectives feet.

A single #boycott round and the entire industry landscape would change.

One might expect that with the amount of gambling associated with AFL games that there would be independently appointed umpires and stewards to oversee the officiation of the game.

The point is not about the odd mistake or a bad 50/50 call. It is more the case that some umpires create and officiate to interpretations that don't officially exist, the turn blind eyes to some events yet ping other minor events at will. The judge intent based on their own biases, they pay the crowd calls, they favour stars.

And they adore the attention. Well, some of them do anyway.

I had to ask someone about someone else once. The first guy used the second as a reference of sorts. (IE when you rock up to this part of the world we sus you out and ask how you got here. The first guy said "I've know so and so for decades and been visiting them for years."

So i asked so and so.

"That campaigner!" A whirl of invective followed and the guy said - so this is the real problem. 3 years ago he rooted my ex then told me about it.

What sort of campaigner does that?

Its not about the control or ownership. Its about the emotional hurt these things cause. If you are mates with someone and root their ex its gonna bring up all the hurt and bullshit from that relationship and if you care about yopur mates you don't do that sort of thing.

If there's genuinely something between you and your mates ex and youse want to be together that's another story I guess but its gonna be an emotional roller coaster and cause alot of hurt between people.

Might not be an issue if everyone was mature enough to cope with open relationships but we aren't.
