Ok, so I did actually write a proper opening post in case the gag failed. And sadly, since I have now invested I feel the need to ruin the gag by publishing it. Vale cloggy's integrity. Although I guess I have the dubious honour of being one of the few whose opening post has turned up on page two.

Also, I suspect you can actually see the point where I started to run out of steam. See Scythe for prizes if you spot it.

The Past …

Kangas
v Doggies:
An interesting first game and perhaps surprisingly, the Roos hung in for almost three quarters against Footscray before capitulating and the Dogs won comfortably in the end.

Bailey Dale disappointed many SC coaches, and my mother. Bont owners hated him and then loved him, Kerch non-owners loved him and then hated him, Darcy owners illustrated their poor understanding of SC scoring, and Xerri owners just continued being absolute twats.

Talk is that Caleb Daniel will be replaced next week by an aging Rick Moranis because?

a) Spaceballs sequel on the horizon
b) a) + helmet quotas

Clash of the Insufferables on Friday night as Collingwood took shat on Carlton:
Aside from a passing interest in Naicos and Does Amazing Things, my only real hope was that these two teams might destroy each other.

Some players were good, some players were not. 5 SC tons combined and anyone who has Maynard, Pendlebury, or Zilliams … need I say it? Cerra, Hewett, Cripps were underwhelming. And their SC scores weren’t great either. TDK just disappointing and to make things worse his future's not so ... let's just say he won't have to wear shades.

I actually watched some of this for review purposes and I want my 18 minutes back. Complaints can be registered via Jiska@bigfooty.com.

The Eagles fought the Giants in a Tolkienesque encounter. By that, I mean that Gandalf himself couldn’t have helped the Eagles in this one.

Congrats to anyone with Finn Callaghan, whether you held or returned him. Good scores from Briggs, Kelly, O’Halloran, Ash. Only sadness on the WCE side.

Whitfield demonstrated once again that, like Andrew McQualter with a fledgling Eagle just learning to fly, he can’t be trusted.

BTW the recorded version of the Giants’ song is the best in the AFL. Good job Harry. The player sung version is the worst.

Essendon faced the Suns at Docklands in the one out of two matches between the teams that has any relev … who am I kidding, nothing with Essendon in it has any relevance. But SC points counted in this one.

Merrett paid his owners back some of the points owed from recent weeks after Bad Scott accidentally played him in the midfield. Anderson, Miller, and whoever Joel Jeffrey is impressed also. Rowell, Humphrey, Caldwell all round about, and Ridley, Martin, Flanders on the disappointing side of the ledger.

Um … that’s about it. Nothing else to report.

Oh, right. SPIKE GAME!!!!

Spike_(Buffyverse_character).jpg

Where in the world can you watch a regular ol’ cat maul a tiger? Why Geelong Medical and Hospital Benefits Association Stadium, of course. Yep, that’s what it stands for, knowledge that will be about as useful to you as Noah Balta in a night game.

Geelong's demolition of Richmond launched with 8 goals to 1 in the second quarter and in my humble opinion, the Tigers just lacked a bit of that Tom Lynch fighting spirit (Whatever happened to that guy?). Was nice to see Maurice Rioli Jr amongst it though.

J. Cameron was on fire, kicking 700 goals for the week (Edit: apologies, that’s his career total; It just felt like a weekly total.) Brian Myers overcame his parents’ spelling difficulties to top the SC score table and Zach Guthrie overcame whatever the f**k is going on with his hair to score well also. Surprising to nobody, Smith was a late out. Hope you had your cover sorted and FU ‘Good’ Scott.

Saints v Hawthorns at Superhero Plaza.

Honestly, maybe it’s the fatigue of paying close attention to the games for the purposes of writing this post, or maybe it’s just because there’s nothing in this for me apart from the outside chance that the Hawks might lose for lols. But as a proud Victorian, I watched the other game.

I missed NWM this year and deeply regret it (I also sold Jack Steele early in the year and regret that a little less.) Marshall and Macrae repaid owners’ faith. And Max Hall WTF?????

Nice second game from Tauru. He’ll make owners some money at exactly the wrong end of the season. Good news for Meek owners, the guy who owns Josh Battle and my 2021 SC team that had Impey in it. Less good for Sinclair owners and anyone dumb enough to own Moore and/or Sicily.

The Lions were at home to the Port Adelaide Magpowers.

The Paer started strong, Brissy hit back. And I’m going to use the rest of my editorial space for this game to lay waste to that f**king Country Roads thing. I mean, I get that you want something you connect to Charlie, but do you really want to connect to some country hick who built his own plane and then flew it straight into a mountain?

Bailey, Butters, Neale, Rozee, Clug, Bergman on the good side of the ledger. Zorko, Washcroft, Dunkley okay without being thrilling. JHF not so great and Jackson sub distressing for anyone who had to field him.

  • Sydney v Fremantle at the SCG
  • Crom v Demons at Adelaide Oval
I missed these games due to a curious thing that some people refer to as ‘life’. May have dodged a bullet.

Both games were coach killers. Clark, Jackson, NOD, Bolton, Serong, Gawn, Petracca, Oliver.

But at least nobody still has Roberts. Right?

The Future…

Thursday:

Carlton host the Lions at Docklands on Thursday. Carlton’s season looks to be slipping away and TDK’s SC prospects from here look about as lost as that TV show where they crash land on that mysterious island with monsters, time travel, and a weird hatch. I wish I could remember what that show was called.

Neale, Dunkley, Washcroft, Zorko, Cripps, Hewett, TDK owners on alert for this one. Nobody else likely to care much.

Friday:

The world slips into a weird alternate reality on Friday when Collingwood actually have to travel interstate – to the fecking GOLD COAST. Somebody’s getting fired when that fixturing decision hits the papers.

Can the Daicoes (Daici? Daica? What’s the plural of Daicos?) score interstate? Can the Suns hang with the ladder leaders? Can Redbull get through the match without steamrolling an umpire? Who the f**k is Joel Jeffrey? All will be revealed…

Saturday:

3rd vs 4th at Docklands as the Bulldogs face Adelaide

Is Dale a complete fraud? Can Red Ed Redemption redeem himself? Can Rankine kick enough goals to remain relevant? Is Bont actually back to his best? F**ked if I know. Stay tuned.

Giants host the Cats at whatever an ENGIE Stadium is and if Bailey Smith could set his alarm in time to make the team that would be super. There’s a bit at stake here as GWS fight to keep a place in the 8 and Geelong fight to keep a place in the top 4.

Essendon play Richmond at the ‘G Saturday in a game only the Bombers could lose.

A chance Merrett could play midfield again. Not sure what else to say. These two teams had three tons between them last week and two of those were 104 and 102. The spike game has been and gone and honestly, I’m getting bored just trying to finish this sentence.

Fremantle, sitting just outside the 8 on percentage, host Hawthorn at Optus Stadium. Hawks are looking to keep pace with the top 4 so there could be some fire in this game.

Bloody hope so, anyway. Freo were an SC disaster last week and Jackson, Serong, Bolton and Clark should be apologising individually and in person to every one of their owners.

I’d love to have a crack at Hawthorn but outside of Meek, and occasionally Newcombe and Battle, they’re not really SC relevant this year.

Sunday could wreak some everloving havoc on SC this week with many relevant and important players on deck. As for the games…

North play Melbourne at the ‘G. So … that’s a thing that is happening.

The Saints and the Swans play at Docklands. St. Kilda’s season has been in the bin for a while, but plenty to like about their SC scoring lately. The Swans can technically make finals but will need everything to go right. Grundy is having a little renaissance of sorts and could make life difficult for Marshall.

Final game of the round is Port Adelaide vs West Coast at Adelaide Oval, a match that assuredly deserves it’s 4:40pm timeslot.

Port hanging on to the slimmest of slim finals chances. Total immolation of the Earth and the Apocalypse would improve West Coast’s fortunes.

earth-on-fire.PNG

However, plenty of interest in the SC output of some favourites such as Butters, Rozee, JHF, and Bergman will keep coaches interested to the end. Which is one positive thing that can be said about this game.

So have at it, Supercoaches.

I like the other one better.

Logging my objection here.

They've been given an annual fixture on the Gold Coast in winter school holidays.

It adds to the rort.

Well that actually makes some sense. Like Richie Benaud, they're just chasing the sun.

As for the objection part ... I mean, sure. I'll take that on board for any future SC Game Day threads I open*.

*will be zero.

A perfectly acceptable spot to stop caring tbh.

Great write-up, friend x

Cats people, does George Stevens hold a spot in the 22 or is he likely sent to sub with Smith returning? I could do with a mid downgrade, preferably one with a chance to play and be some sort of back up later if required.

I need cover this week for that train wreck LDU too! I do have McCarthy in mids at the moment so if I bring Stevens in I can loop him and McCarthy this week.

That's awesome, I shall buy him a coffee.
Bought him a few, too.
Was the final frontier,.the holy grail
And he pieced it all together based off that old BF post of the CD fella.

That Voss murder threat was one of my mob, not a Blues supporter.
Hard to make sense of the thinking there (also not SC, just a crazy twist)

clogwearer couldn't come up with anything cause he is too stressed about me giving him a giant thumping in the BFC2 comp.
Don't worry, I'm working out how to use my last remaining trades and coming after you. :rocket:

Precisely zero players in tonight's game (with the exception of Carroll at D8) – hope they all go terribly
