Lies, all lies! :(

Is he a left-footer?

That's why he is better, no one can tell what foot he actually kicks on.. He isn't one sided.. Oh, and he actually knows where the backline is situated...

To Toman defence isn't something you sit on....

Nah... I reckon Myles is alright ;)

In fact, it was the one thing that the RDFL squad has had the past couple of years that it probably lacked last night, that player with X-Factor that is capable of the ridiculous...

I have one question regarding one umpire that frequents this site, (Kick out rule), Once the goal umpire has signaled a behind, the ball can be kicked out immediately?? why would an umpire call the kick back, I saw this on Saturday, due to an attacking player still being in the square. would i be right or can you please correct me.
What exactly is the rule

Thanks

if you're refering to the one at lancefield on sat the ball was called back because it was a defending player in the square not an attacking player as you state:thumbsu:

That was the one, i always thought you can kick out immediately regardless if a team mate is exiting the square, I wonder how many others are unsure about the rule, that is why i asked.

13.1 FOOTBALL MUST BE KICKED
Unless Law 12.4 applies, when a Behind has been recorded, the
following shall apply:

(c) Other than the Player kicking the football into play, all
Players must immediately vacate the area within 5 metres
of the Goal Square.

I know it's open to interpretation but the way i look at it it's the same as a set shot for goal, if a player of the same team is with in the 5m protected area of the kicker time off shall be called until such time as he clears the area.:thumbsu:

Has anyone heard anything about Kilmore throwing there hat in the ring for the services of Moorcroft and Green from Romsey. Alot of club hopping seems to go on in this comp.

RDFL 2010 Season - Round 6

With everything in the competition starting to take shape, Round 6 looms as another very important week for all sides in the battle for a spot in the top 6. The key to this round of matches could indeed be complacency...

Woodend/Hesket FNC (8th) Vs Kilmore FNC (5th)
Gilbert Gordon Oval - Woodend
Two sides that currently sit on the edge of a proverbial knife edge facing off in what will be a terrific contest.
The Hawks are playing inconsistent football to start the season. A narrow loss to the Burra, a massive win over the Cats and a flogging at the hands of Wallan precede what is a huge week for the Hawks, a loss here will have them at 2-4 and well behind the pace, but a win will put them right in the mix. At home, the Hawks are always a 5 goal better side, especially if the opposition turns up expecting an easy win as Macedon found out the hard way. The Hawks have some fantastic hard workers in the line up, guys like Joel Goodyear, Sam Bowen, Jimmy Chettle and of course Matty Knox. Knox could hold the key for the Hawks here, the Blues backline has question marks and Knox will provide an option all day. Boom recruit Jesse Waters has been a little quiet so far, while Ross Waters hasn't had the same impact since his 7 goals in the Macedon game. The interest could surround whether Cook decides to sit forward in an attempt to exploit the Blues lack of tall defenders, or play himself on the big guy at the other end. Either way, Cook will rely heavily on his midfielders to get on top. The Hawks smaller forwards need to back up again with a big game as the Blues small defenders have so far done the job this year.
Kilmore are getting the job done so far. A massive win over Broadford last week will have them full of confidence. But will the issue be that the Blues rely on too few to get the job done. Robertson, Booker, and James are regularly the Blues best, so they need the next level players to step up again this week. Prendergast, Hede, Collis and Thompson will be important keys to what is a danger game for the Blues. If they win here, they are well and truly in the race for a top 4 finish, a loss will put them back in the pack. There is so much importance surrounding this game for both sides.
Game Key: It happens to be a repeat within our competition, but the midfield holds so much importance to this game. If Booker and Robertson cut loose, this one is over. For the Hawks, Matt Knox holds the key, a big bag of goals is just the tonic for the Hawks.
Kilmore by 15 points.

Wallan FNC (6th) Vs Lancefield FNC (4th)
Greenhill Reserve - Wallan
The Magpies have lost 2 on the trot while the Tigers haven't lost since Round 1. A classic contest looms on the Magpies home turf as they look to bounce back and get their season back on track.
While they haven't been embarrassed, the Magpies would be disappointed to be sitting at 3-2 now. Last week was an opportunity lost as they squandered a strong position against the Burra. The strength of Wallan has been their midfield and having several forward options to kick a score, with Gavin Langborne and David Fowler being the main targets. Jimmy Turner has been in great form off the half back line. While Carl Groth, Shane Jacobs and David Saliba are giving the Magpies their drive through the middle of the ground. This week will be as important as any for this midfield group though coming up against one of the best midfield groups in the competition. The Tigers midfield group last week showed why they are one of the premier groups in the competition. One of the most important roles in the comp is to be able to put on a level of pressure when you don't have the football, the Tigers have that balance, when they have the ball they are very good users, giving the forward line every opportunity to boot a winning score, but it is the pressure through the middle of the ground that they are able to put on the opposition which seperates the Tigers from all other sides. They are disciplined and have an outstanding work rate. This week the Tigers will have an advantage in the ruck. Tommy Waters is in great form and one of the standout ruckman of the competition. The Magpies don't yet have a strong ruckman that could go with him. If they are able to find someone to do so, they will be right in the contest.
Game Key: Pressure. If the Tigers can pressure the Magpies out of the contest then they will control this game. The Tigers backline is very good and with such an even contribution from all over the ground, Wallan will need to convert every opportunity.
Lancefield by 25 points.

Broadford FNC (12th) Vs Macedon FC (7th)
Harley Hammond Reserve - Broadford
Broadford have been competitive up until last week in all games and will be looking for a better performance in front of their home crowd this week. Sure, the season is going to be a long tough one for the other Roos, but they need to keep the faith. They have a talented young list that will take time to improve, but the most important thing for the people of Broadford is that they have to stick by the players, the coach and the committee for this year, they just cant afford to drop off, otherwise, next year will become even tougher. It is fantastic having Broadford in the competition and I have concerns that the commitment from Harley Hammond could be wavering.. Hold strong, the success will come, it just might take a little time. The Cats have so far, underperformed in 2010. The important thing for the Cats though is that they are winning enough games to remain in the hunt for a top 4 spot. James Wright has had a fantastic start to the season, his speed and ball skills have been a boost for the Cats, it is good to see Jai Wilton back up and about and the Cats new forward Matt Waters kick started his season last week. A solid win against Centrals last week was nothing to write home about, but the Cats are still slowly improving and should be sitting 4-2 after this week and well and truly in the hunt.
Game Key: Physical attack. Both of these sides are very good at the run and carry style of game. If Broadford can somehow turn the game into a contested, stoppage style of football they might give themselves some chance.
Macedon by 50 points.

Riddell FNC (1st) Vs Rockbank FSC (10th)
Riddells Creek Reserve - Riddell
The powerhouse is back, the Aura has returned, the Riddell FNC is once again the kings of the RDFL. Another contender was demolished and pushed aside last week in a dominating performance. The Bombers were in this position last year though, before losing 3 in a row including a defeat at the hands of the side they face this weekend. But this is a different Bombers side. The return of Mick Allen, Aaron Blade and James Climas has added presence, Matt Baird is in strong form up forward while Brayden Allen is dominating in the ruck. Jason Allen is again leading from the front and the worry for opposing sides is that the man arguably considered the bombers best in Cam McCabe hasn't really hit his stride yet. Gerard Liddell is proving to be a revelation in the midfield and at this stage would be one of the favorites for the Bowen Medal. The question mark this year was going to be if the Bombers had the depth in midfield rotations that they have had in the past, but with Climas, Blade, Liddell, Sammut and Casson they still have one of the better midfield groups, opposition sides have some work to do on finding the Bombers weakness and breaking them down. The Rams have so far been competitive in 2010 without having that breakthrough performance that might kick start their season. Again last week they were so close to snatching a win against the Hawks, but just fell short. The recruits in Zerafa, Kennedy and Jackal are the keys and Tom Mainey has been great again, but they need more output from the next level. While their best are very good, the 2nd tier just aren't doing enough for them to get the win they so desperately need. With games against Wallan, Romsey and Diggers Rest in the next 3 weeks, the Rams are at risk of sitting 1-8 at the half way mark and looking (on face value) as though they haven't improved on last year at all, that would be disappointing because they have recruited well and at times they have played a fantastic brand of football. Much rely's on guys like Brendan Newitt and Brent Henry to step up this week to give the Rams a chance.
Game Key: If Leigh Spry can keep his side from feeling the defeat before they run out, then the Rams might be able to score a surprise, but at home, the Bombers are almost untouchable.
Riddell by 85 points.

Romsey FNC (11th) Vs Melton Centrals FNC (9th)
Romsey Park - Romsey
Well, at the start of the season if you had of said that Centrals would be placed above Romsey at this time of the season then you would have been scoffed at. Yes, the Redbacks have had an unlucky start to the year, injuries and bad luck have plagued them as they sit at 0-5 and 2nd last on the ladder. Bud luck or not, the Redbacks have been taking the field with a majority of the Grand Final team from last year, their form hasn't been good and the influence of Moorcroft and Green have been reduced. Ash McNaughton has been in great form as has Brad Mitchell who has given the Redbacks an avenue to goal, but they just don't seem to be able to actually do enough to impact the scoreboard and the oppositions confidence. Whether it be bad luck or not, poor form has to be playing some role in the Redbacks season, but not all is lost, if they can bounce back here, they have some games in the next few weeks that may allow them to gain both confidence and form. Starting this week, the next month is massive for the Redbacks if they are to bounce back and become a finals contender. Remember, they are effectively now starting 3 wins behind finals rivals. Centrals were brave last week in the loss to the Cats. Their last 3 weeks proves that they are starting to find some form. Brian Wheelahan is benefiting from a full preseason, Kane Bullen is starting to gain some touch and Glenn Nankervis is flying in what would be his first full season in a long while. This game will be a massive test for Centrals, if they are able to travel to Romsey and come away with a win, it will effectively end the Redbacks season and might just be the kick start they need to throw their own hat in the ring as a finals contender.
Game Key: Confidence. The Redbacks are low, if Centrals can keep them down and continue to grow their own, we could just witness the end of the Redbacks finals hopes.
Romsey by 40 points.

Match of the Round (The Calder Hwy Cup)
Sunbury Kangaroos FNC (2nd) Vs Diggers Rest FNC (3rd)
Boardman Reserve - Sunbury
As much as everyone here would know I hate to do this, I have the Kangaroos down as MOR for the third week running. 2nd Vs 3rd, the local rivalry, a genuine hatred. These two clubs have been going at it, toe to toe, mano e mano, for as long as I can remember and have had some truly outstanding contests, as a pure supporter, if you want to just head along to the football to see a good contest, this is the game I would be choosing.
Both sides have started the season strongly, both sitting 4-1 which creates all the more excitement for this game.
The Kangaroos suffered their first loss last week at the hands of the Tigers and will be desperate to bounce back, especially against the Burra. Last week they were completely pressured out of the game through the midfield, and while the 2nd half showed at times what they are capable of, they will have a better understanding now of what they might have to deal with in the coming weeks. Adam Walsh has been in unbelievable form in defence for the Roos, his ability to mark and rebound gives the Roos opportunity to break the game open. Clearly one of the most underrated defenders, if not players, in the competition. Darragh McGovern continues to find the football through the middle of the ground while the Roos ruck division is monsterous, they need to start to take advantage of the opportunities that the ruckman can provide. The inaccurate kicking at goal last week truly was a reflection on the pressure that they were under and don't expect Meacham to not kick a goal again. The Roos missed Burrows last week, that creative small that can put perceived pressure on is a position that needs to be filled for the Roos. Leigh McInerney probably hasn't been in career best form, but a standout game is likely only just around the corner, could this week be that game?
The Burra have been travelling along nicely under the radar. Another great win against good opposition last week has them sitting pretty in 3rd with an opportunity to go to 2nd this week. I guess I have been a little surprised by the Burra as I thought most of the work would be left to the stars of the side, but Hopkins has again proven what he is capable of producing as the coach of this club, always able to get that extra 10% out of players when it is needed. Craig Marshall has proven to be an excellent recruit for the Burra, while Stu Clarke is in superb touch. The Burra have had several injuries in the first 5 weeks which further highlights the ability of others to step up and fill a void, something that some opposition sides would love to have. They have the people around the club that are able to inspire others to follow, its a fantastic trait to have at this level.
This game will be an arm wrestle, the Roos Vs Burra games always are, usually the side with the "game breaker" that steps up on that particular day comes away with the win. Who can be the game breaker this week?
Game Key: Grunt. Both of these sides will need to go head down and butt up for every minute, in every position on the ground. If there is a weak link, in a contest like this, it will be exposed.

top fella Goudgey lets hope he gets back and gets himself fit for the business end of the year when the Blues look like they'll be up and about. I too had heard about Kilmore being keen on Moorcroft thing, nothing's secret along Sydney Street!!! I reckon the poor bloke would be keen for June 30 to come and go as his phone must be going of its ****.

Wonder how many goals Slim Waters will jag at Harley Hammond Reserve tomorrow - fair dinkum reckon he averaged a good 7-8 (or more) goals there whilst at Colbo & Heafcote in the HDFL.

sponsers day? hmmmm wrong haven't lost any sponsers. think you will find the person running amok last week was in FACT a lancefield registered player. as for the two's players not being happy i think you will find they understand why they are in the two's and most of them have been working hard to get back into the one's.

Kilmore absolutley dominated Woodend today...won by 20+ goals with Jamesy kicking 7 and TRAVIS Hede kicking 6...Blues dominated out of the guts most of the day with Robertson, Phillips and Booker having it on a string...Piled on the goals in the last quarter while Woodend decided to go the undiciplined route throwing cheap ones all over the place in the last 10mins...definately a good day for the Bluers with all the netballers and U/18s and Ressies getting up for wins :thumbsu:

You are right about kilmore dominating all day out of the middle, whfnc didnt have a reply to kilmores great midfield, but your remark about them goin the biff in the last ten mins is totally out of order. I will not cop that crap statement from you by just trying to rub our noses in it. Take the win for what it is worth and keep the boots out you ungrateful spud. It was a pleasure watching A. James go about his business and his remarks over the fence to us opposition blokes were gold. Shame blokes like you cant take a win for what it is worth and seem fit to talk a little BS to take the shine of a great performance.
