romsey smacked kilmore on the weekend, they look very average - chrissy wilson bagged six from the wing -

It wasn't that Kilmore were ordinary, it was their lack of finding consistency throughout the game that killed them. In the second quarter for example, they dominated for a good 10-15 minute period. But only managed to kick two goals.

I have only seen Kilmore twice this year, and not for full games, but throw Johnny Rowe and Matt Robertson back in the line-up, and they can trouble any side on their day. I'm picking them to take fifth spot. My final ladder prediction is this: Romsey, Woodend-Hesket, Riddell and Diggers (can't seperate) and Kilmore.

Unlucky to miss out will be Macedon, Sunbury and Melton.

i noticed on the rdfl website that diggers coach glenn hopkins played on the weekend. can anyone tell me if this is only to be a regular thing or was it just a one off.
He didn't play on the weekend I dont think. He played a practice match earlier in the year and dominated but doubt it will be a regular thing.Could certainly still play though.Diggers have alot of injuries at the moment so you never know.

Woodend, Riddell, Diggers, Romsey, Kangaroos - These games without Robbo and Johnny Rowe will hurt Kilmore at the end of the year... Centrals will be very close too... Dont think that Macedon are quite good enough yet to challenge. Could probably take them out of the race...

Not really sure why it is on there but he definetly didn't play. There were rumours that he was going to play in the seconds last week but didn't so I am not sure what is going on there. If you count that team list there is 26 players on there.3 other players named that did not play.

thanks dog town, if glenn was playing i was going to make a point of going to watch him.

i used to watch him when he played & coached at heathcote back in the early 90's. 40 possesions a game wasnt uncommon

The practice game he played he had 20 odd in a half.Still freakishly fit.Bit to valuable as a non playing coach though I think.

totally agree, has the ability to change the culture around at a club.
did it at heatcote, coached them to a preimership, the club then played off in the next 7 GF's.

from what i understand has a done that at a couple of clubs.
do you know what led him to diggers

He was looking for a club and Diggers had lost a heap of senior players but had played in 3 consecutive 18s grand finals and had a good list of kids.Took the challenge on and got them to 3rd last year with basically only 4 regular players over the age of 23.Has had a massive influence on the place. The team is just as young this year with a couple of older guys missing and the team is looking pretty good agai.Really teaches the young guys well. His captain is 22 and so is his assistant coach.Pretty big on fitness and the in close style of game.

Intersting what you said about changing clubs cultures.Alot of people feel he has already done that at Diggers regardless of whether he gets a flag or not.

give him time dog, if he decides to stay at and if the young blokes listen to what he has to say a flag might not be that far away.

Only one new face at the Kangas, Toddy Edwards.. Boy can play, showed that in his first game on the weekend.

Would like an indepth report on my man Cam Watson aka WATTO. Havent seen watson named in the Telegrph of recent so wondering where has his brilliant form of last year gone. I saw him play a game and with sangas up by 30 odd points at 3 quater time sat him on the bench for the entire last quater and left the game to young undeveloped woolcock, not sure if it was because of injury but not a smart move they needed their main man out there to win the game, and actually ended up loosing the match.

Some of you guys are kidding yourselfs. have recently seen a game with riddle and if they are meant to be a good team in your league then the rdfl is the worst comp ive seen. Sorry to burst your ego's

Cam is going pretty well this year, has just suffered a little from injury which has made it hard for him.. But he is a very important part of the Kangaroos lineup and as the season goes on will benefit from having players such as Woolcock there to help him out.. Thought Woolcock did very well in that last quarter that you are talking about, and at no stage were the Kangas 30 points in front... But you are right, Cam is a player the Roos need if they are to fire.

'That's special' how would you rate the sunbury kangaroos amongst other sides in the area ie riddell, sunbury lions, rupertswood, diggers rest.
I am very curious as sunbury is very much football orientated.

Well you could take Sunbury Lions and Rupertswood out of the comparison straight away, the resources available to these clubs far outweigh those provided to the RDFL clubs.

Compared to Riddell and Diggers Rest, I have no arguments that the Kangaroos are not yet in the league of these sides..

In fact, I think that the Kangaroos are in about the same position as Diggers Rest were about 3 years ago.. The problem the Roos had were that the same people were around the club doing the same things year after year, no scope for improvement.. At the beginning of last year, a new committee group, new coaching staff and new people around the club bought about a change in the way the Kangaroos do things as a club, and an immediate improvement. There is still alot of steps to take to put the club in the area of a Riddell or even a Romsey, but certainly the steps have been taken.. Where the club was a long way behind D/Rest a couple of seasons ago, the gap has closed in the past 2 years, on and off the ground, and the only way to close this gap on the field was to try and recruit some footballers of a good standard, Todd Edwards was one of these footballers, now your statement was that he is "wasting his time" at the Kangaroos, but is this statement as true if the side is becoming one of a finals contender.. Is Leigh James wasting his time at Riddell? Was he when he first went there? Is Heath Wadden in the same boat this year? Is Matty Robertson wasting his time at Kilmore? Is Matty McClellan wasting his time at Romsey?

My answer would be no.. The only way to build successful teams or a successful competion is to bring players into the team/comp that are able to strengthen it.. All teams will attempt to do this, as have the Kangaroos.

The RDFL is a better competition than it was last year, as it was last year than the year before, and it will continue to get better with better players now being attracted to the competition.. My hope is that the comp can continue to get better, all teams, to create a competition that creates its own respect... Teams like the Kangaroos, Diggers and even Rockbank are a huge part of this process

that's special, now you have made some valid points. but those names mentioned are wasting there time in that comp. tell me besides money what would they get out of it?And to say rockbank will become good? that makes me laugh.

How is Matty Robertson and Johnny Rowe going by the way, when are these guys due back into the Kilmore line up?

I heard Johnny might be back this weekend after his two and half matches on the sidelines, while Robbo is likely to be back in three weeks.

big man, how do work out that they are wasting their time being involved with the rdfl. which clubs or league would you rather them play in.
as TS mentioned earlier without the better players being attracted to the league obviously the league would not last.
when a higher profile player joins a club in a league such as the rdfl it can often change the culture of the club and give the younger guys a real chance to learn from them. and if it is only the money that is keeping them in the rdfl so what. the way football is these days there arent to many players playing for love.
