Interesting.. Where did you hear this?
Got a mate that plays for Albion. If it is true, someone at Kanga land would know about it. The only reason i'd be a little sceptical is the money factor-Surely sunbury couldn't afford the likes of James. if True the two most paid players in our comp will both be James. Can anyone tell me when Gadsen is likely to play and why he has left Sunbury.Interesting that he leaves when Sunbury struggling a little, surely Mark Power wont be happy with that. Then again there might be a legit reason-please shed some light.

I've heard that Woodend have continued to be active in recruiting and i believe in recent weeks have secured ex-premiership players Scott Hammond and Matthew Loughnane ( who had a great game on the weekend) and possibly Brendan Lee (big bonuses), Nick Hannett (ex Melton South gun) and it is believed ex RDFL legend Darko (Melton players in particular would know this name well) will train with the Hawks this week with the intention to play with the hawks. This guy is a man mountain and although he's getting on apparently reasonably fit and would be great up forward and could have short spells in the ruck. They're working on a couple of other big names.
Interesting how everyone talks premierships when Romsey beats Riddell, but hardly a whisper with Woodend’s win against Romsey the week before. In fact most tipsters had Kilmore beating Woodend at their home ground. Woodend has won both their last games without most of the names above. Players at the club at the moment are really enjoying their footy and working their tales off for each other on the ground-Everyone is very happy at the moment at Hawkland!

Gadsden hasn't played this year, believe he has been getting over an injury, but someone with knowledge might be able to shed some light on this..

Woodend have been travelling very well since thier loss to the Roos, Darko Dobrosvak was a star for Melton, will be a handy player for the Hawks if he plays, no doubt, he also played at the Roos a while back and won a B&F... Hannett and Lee will no doubt also be very good pickups for the Hawks and they certainly have the side to win a flag, if they put it all together.. But then again, any side in the top 7 could win on any given day, we have seen this already... It is going to be a very interesting run home, without a doubt...

Good morning,Gentlemen and Ladies
I believe it is time to clarify what our great game of football is all about.
I have been involved at all levels of Football at coaching levels and Administation and would like to put a few points to the un-educated.
The game we call Austalian rules is a game that caters for all levels of ability and there is nothing better than seeing a 10 year old getting his first kick or a struggling senior player have his moment of glory.(everyone at some stage does).
I have a theory on the making of a well run and succesfull club.
The club must have a sound and working commitee, ensuring that the finances and the future of the club are not short term.
Secondly the players and members must enjoy each others company both on and off the field.
The first two in effect will then produce a culture that money cannot buy and in effect will bond a team together, which has and will in the future create history for the club.
The Sunbury Kangaroos are now, under the leadership of Trevor and his committee in the position to take the club somewhere they have never been before, whether it be finals this year or not.
The short term gains are great, but as you will see over the coming years we will be strong both on and off the field and when you talk to the people who count in our league, both opposition and the league officials they are the ones that count when the comments flow.

As you said, you will cop a pasting from the "Uneducated" but well said.. This not only apply's to the Kangaroos, but also to every club in our competition... 5 years ago, this comp was all but dead and buried.. Now there is strength building and as we can see by the results, a strong competition for us all to enjoy...

gadsen hasnt played for the lions since last year he put in a clearence to go to an essendon district club but obviously that was denied so he is still registered to lions he is not a playing member of the club i dont think, hes just 1 of those players whose last club was sunbury....got nothing to do with us struggling and him escaping cause trust me we will be right...any1 who would want to leave now would be stupid we as a club are enjoying this challenge

Aaron James would cost the Kangas a hell of a lot coin if he went there ! Rumour has it he was on a grand a week at Albion. I doubt that any team in the RDFL could afford to pay a individual that amount of money. The RDFL clubs who are pretty financial would be better to spread the money amongst the juniors coming into the senior side as opposed to a quick fix player which might not be there in '07

Irrellevant of the fact... A.James will not be heading to the Kangaroos and not worth talking about what it would cost the Kangaroos if he did... :D

Thanks for clearing that up T.S! Wasn't a hoax but a genuine rumour (if there is such thing) regardless, will have to blast my source, then again that’s what these forums are all about, Any chance of letting me know who gave you the info t.s. Not much clearer on the Gadsen move is he going to Riddell or not.

Carn the pup you sound like a person in a high position at Sun. No doubt you guys will resurrect your year. However you're half way through the year and probably need a few more runs on the board at his stage. Good luck for the rest of the year-certainly got the job ahead of you!

To my knowledge nothing has been confirmed or denied and in the future and present all CLUBS will be surprised who will be available and wanting(the key word)to play for the Kanga's.

Wouldn't blast the source.. The rumour had merit... And I guess still does, I did state "at this stage" Stay tuned, could be more to come.... As for Gaddo, apparently played 2's last Saturday so by all accounts he is already at Riddell....

Why the sudden interest in the Hawks?
Where have all these wonderful players been hiding?
Brendan Lee was struggling a couple of years ago so why would he reappear now? Is it perhaps that he see's an opportunity to jump on the premiership bandwagon? Ii would appear thet the moghty woodend hawks are simply stocking up on has been's instead of giving the young bloke's a go. Also heard a rumour the you have also convinced Daffy Fowler to pull the boots on again. Any truth to that?

From what I know Aaron James is mates with Dean Helmers and played at the jets with him which would be why the kangas are in the race for him.Could be a mixed blessing if it does happen.Obviously a very good player that would put them in premiership calculations but also a bit of a loose cannon if you listen to some people.

Love the Cryptic, Woody things are travelling along nicely and could in fact get better.

Sorry, still very cryptic, but watch this space.

Would be nice to get an experienced player of quality to enhance and teach our younger players in the near future.

We are not interested in the big dollar game, but have an opening for any suitable player that would benefit our future progress.

Maybe there are players of quality who would like to join what we think is an era that will bring the Kanga's to the forefront.

I know of one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dennis stop bulls..ting everybody,
I will answer this for all to read, I have heard this rumour aswell as others if it is true that would be a major bonus for this club, as we are not travelling too baddly at the moment, if this is true, he has only 10 days untill clearances close, but i will say this, he has not been seen at training, their is no room left in the club budget, i have personally not heard from him, but have heard it from a player, but i have not been presented with a clearance to sign so to me until that happens it's just goss. so if this does happen it will be posted on the rdfl website with all other clearances so until then spread all the rumours you like. See you all later.

Dogga, you sound like an intelligent footyhead, who knows a little about our league. If that's correct you'd be aware of the importance of good experienced players at the buisness end of the season. We seem to be putting together a side that has a blend of youth, players that have played between 50-100 games and experienced players that go alright. This is an essental ingredient for teams to do well come finals time. I'm not saying we have the premiership in the bag or anything ridiculous like that. I simply stated in my original post to which you replied we're a happy team to the minute and implied that maybe, just maybe we could be a surprise packet. As for brendan Lee and Daffy Fowler. Both have been contacted and one has committed if his body holds up-Brendan. He has not jumped on the wagon but found his body has held up to a few nights of training and most likely missed playing with the boys. A bloke that has been part of the club for most his life and played many great games and been a great coach can hardly be accused of jumping on the wagon. Value comes in different shapes and form and although the best footy is most likely behind many of the players i mentioned, they offer either physical presence or are natural generals (and extremely smart players ) on the field-Another pretty important ingredient come finals time. The majority of our team is still under 24 years of age for the record -The future looks rosey to the minute!

To answer your original questions why the sudden interest in Woodend-Last time i checked this was an RDFL thread-seemed like the logical place to post a comment regarding Woodend. Where have they been hiding-Dont know, Dont care as long as they play! Should be another great week of footy. Enjoy!

In regards to that, I think itd be a huge boost for Sunbury to pick up Aaron James if they manage to nab him, good luck to em, also ive heard through the grapevine that apparently Rick Scott is back from the AFLQ?? and back at the roos for the remainder of '06'... can somebody confirm that because if thats the case thats certainly a plus especially heading towards finals, the kids a born and bred goalkicker... and with Newton and Helmers kicking goals ie. last weekend, it makes for a very strong forward line and something for opposition to stand up and notice, not to say they already havent... Also congrats to the RDFL u18s for their game last week, great effort by all.

Dont stress old boy. When i said why the sudden interest in woodend i meant from the players not yourself. I do not have a problem with talking about woodend or any other team in the RDFL. If it means we are not discussing the rivalry between the bloody mighty Rupo and the Kangaroos then i'm happy. You said that Woodend were looking at some other big names. Can you elaborate on this? And has the dust settled after Gonzales pulled the pin? Did he take any players with him?

Can indeed confirm that Rick Scott has returned for AFLQ and is playing out the season with the Kangaroos.. Returned last week through the Reserves, kicked 4 playing essentially as a midfielder.

You guys seem to be heading in the right direction at the moment ,Not sure if big Jamesy is the right man your looking for, if your looking to lead your youth in the right direction .

For the record James was allegedly kicked out of Albion, apparently was causing all sorts of trouble, so last comment extremely valid. Sorry Dogga cant give you names at the moment. Wouldn't want Riddell to open their cheque books (again) and snatch a player we're trying hard to get. Might turn out to be nothing, just wait and see. Looks like the Sun. prez has put the James rumour to bed for the minute boys, however my source tells me he is still coming. I'd like to know from Sun. players whether they'd want a loose canon like him around the club.
