Sure we have some pretty big issues in the country and more broadly globally at the moment that require serious discussion (and not just yelling and slinging shit at the opposite side), but how could anyone wake up today take a step outside in to one of the nicest days we have had in months, and say, "yup, I'm gunna go waste my Sunday at the protest rally".

Blaming immigration is a hell of a lot easier than winding back tax concessions that drive up house prices :drunk:

I was sitting at a table full of immigrants yesterday, and even they wanted to curtail immigration (but they couldn't really articulate why).
The government has just brought forward the easing of deposit and LMI requirements for first home buyers. I'm sure that'll help housing affordability. /s

I’m just going off my high school economics here, but would that increase the number of people who can participate in the housing market, which would increase demand, which would drive prices up, not down?

I know this isn't the SRP board, but if the current government doesn't do something substantial and meaningful about the housing problem, with the massive majority it's got, it'll probably never happen.
According to the last census data, more than 1,000,000 residences (not a typo) were unoccupied on census night. This is a result of perceiving housing as investment, with government policies encouraging this, Labor or Liberal.

Think I'll leave it at that, because like you hinted it devolves into SRP if we start getting into it.

Bingo.

Tax policy should be used to dictate behavior - what we want to encourage, what we want to discourage.

You can essentially pinpoint the time when house price growth started to pull away from wage growth and that's when the 50% CGT general discount came into play.

This topic feels like when I catch up with my mates and they're talking about politics/tax/investments and they ask what I've been up to and I tell them I've been playing Playsation and mountain biking. 😒

Could just be a lot of booty calls

I've been thinking about getting a Switch recently, what's good to play on there atm?
I really enjoyed Donkey Kong Bananza. It's a Switch 2 game, but if you're buying a console, it would be nuts to buy the previous gen. Backwards compatible with access to Gamecube games with Nintendo Online.

The Zeldas are all elite (haven’t played the recent one where you play as Zelda herself). I’m playing Disco Elysium at the moment which is not great on switch but an elite game nonetheless.

TBH I only have a switch so it’s what I play - it’s not that I’m particularly affiliated with the console. There are likely better games on PS/Steam etc but I’m all about that portability

I've got an Xbox and a PC but yeah was keen on something a bit more convenient and portable. Tossing up between the Switch 2 or the Steam Deck

same here. I played Tony Hawk PS 1+2 on switch because it’s what I have.

I’ve just started my second play through of Super Mario Odyssey, and one of the Rayman games. TBH my switch spends most of its time as a party game machine with my siblings and nephew now.

I love the switch in portable for more Lo-fi games that don’t need a big screen. Like replaying late 90s Japanese RPGs or pixel art games like Stardew Valley etc

The blue haired one? I can’t remember their names. Only Pierre cos he’s a campaigner

If you haven't played it yet, I'd highly recommend Dave the Diver on Switch. Great game that you can just pick-upp and play. One of those games I wish I could play for the first time again.
