In the market for a new phone - my one is old and the battery isn't what it once was (Iphone 12).

I'm keen to be on it less not more so the top of the line ones with all the features and AI slop doesn't appeal to me. Mostly just keen for one with a decent battery and camera (whilst still allowing me to shitpost on BF).

Any recommendations from the poindexters?

AI bloat-ware is pretty much standard across the board these days unfortunately, I know on iPhones you can disable it so I presume Android would be the same

The new iPhone 17 (just the base one, not the Pro) is pretty good value if you don’t mind a phone on the smaller side (mind you 6.3 is still pretty big [sex life])

Otherwise Samsung have some more budget offerings (A56 springs to mind). Even last years S24 range is pretty good value, hardware is more or less the same as this year apart from a few minor camera improvements. The main difference is less AI features I believe.

A mate of mine got an S24 FE last year and loves it. I’m personally considering getting one myself.

Shopping for a new phone every few years is such a loathsome chore. You've got re-learn all the specs and what they mean, and come up with a matrix of price, quality, memory, camera, storage....gaahh.

Do all the new ones have eSim capability now? It's the one new feature of modern phones I'm interested in upgrading for.

Yeah a lot of the phones are about the same nowadays. If you're only looking for a decent enough camera and being able to shitpost on BigFooty continuously any mid-range offering from Samsung, Apple or neither is fine. All phones nowadays - even the premium flagship models that would drain the most battery because of their features or large screen sizes - can last a day without charging and prolonged heavy use.

I personally have move onto Google phones and have not looked back - they do a lot of the things that the equivalent Samsung can do, for a fraction of the price. TY24 recommendations are solid.

I always get the telstra ppl to move all my stuff across, and as long as I can text, look at my socials I'm happy.
Im sure I use my phone to around 10% of its capacity

A few colleagues of mine have the Pixel 10 and they rave about it. Pretty sure they’ve got a fair bit in the way of AI though.

Yep, but fortunately easy to disable (Gemini), and easy to use to improve or modify photos which is - let's face it - the predominant use of AI for a casual phone user.

I have a Pixel Fold 9 and it's brilliant so far.

If you want another iPhone I’d recommend the base 17 that’s about to launch. 256GB storage as the base, slightly larger display to your current, but you get the 120hz pro-motion display that’s been locked behind the pro price tag too. It’s essentially the 16 Pro for the price of a base model.

Otherwise I’d recommend a Pixel A series or the FE Samsungs if you want to try the dark side.

I've only had Google phones for probably 10 years now. But don't hold that against them!

No but seriously you've been a great audience, please tip your waiters.

This is Australia, we don’t have a tipping culture here cobber. Go back to Seppoland.

We’re supposed to be Chardonnay-swilling WC supporters, dang nabbit!
What are y’all doing with povo phones?
It’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, or GTFO…

My iPhone12 died recently so I bought an iPhone SE (3rd Gen) - they’re around $500-600 new depending on how much storage you want

It’s been fine and I’ve been able to do everything I did on the old phone

Had a good run out of Oppo's.
This one cost me about $400 and is going on 4 years old now with no problems, the one I had before that was an oppo and cost about $250 and lasted 4 as well

So Kirk's killer is a white boy from a conservative Republican family in Utah.

Can't wait to see how this was the fault of a black gay trans lib from California. Or something.
It's still the radical leftists. Even when it's a RWNJ, I knew it was the radical left !

As if my tired work-stressed ass could use having a dream about my second dog slipping through the fence and running away, to the point where I wake up and go outside in the early dewy morning to check.

I don't even have a second dog. Dumbass.

Ever dreamt of Kane Cornes being marooned on a deserted island? Well, imagine no longer!

It's time for our second iteration of AFL Survivor. Bigger and better than the last (which is why we needed two parts - and yes, sacrilege to have Daisy in a Demons jumper - but how else could I stack the deck with 1 player-per-team restrictions?)

Jump on board as we near the end of our second season, but expect some Ashes content in the offseason too.

Why not give us a follow on socials too and join the community? FB PAGE

IT'S BAAAAACK! AFL Survivor returns with more twists, more psychological warfare and MORE PEOPLE! Survivor fanatic Shannon joins Adam and Jordan as we go through the second edition of AFL Survivor.

I can not wait to be infuriated once again by any and every small mistake

One side saying he was a good conservative boy radicalised by filthy lefties, the other side saying he was an ultra-conservative who acted because Kirk was getting too liberal :rolleyesv1:

Motives aside, has anyone worked out how a 22 year old apprentice sparky managed to pull off a perfectly executed long range shot to the jugular like he was Bradley Cooper’s sniper character in that movie about a sniper? (I think it was called The Guy That Couldn’t Stop Shooting).

Most Americans ive seen commenting on it on social media are saying its an easy shot, in fact it was probably a bad shot. And they'd know🤣
