I actually found the first episode much better than I expected. They did force some references in way too forcefully but overall it was good.

Pretty much this. I wasnt expecting heaps but I really liked the style. Great casting too on Gordon, Alfred, Penguin etc,

A little bit fanservicy in the first episode cramming in characters, but that was expected I think.
