Hi

I've put this question out to another site and to the regional board here, and no one on the regional board is forthcoming. I am seeking some help for a story I am investigating.

Wondering if anyone can help me out...I'm doing some reserach on a story about a West v Port game, in 1931 (and yeah, I am serious!!) Apparently quite a few of the Port players at the time also worked as wharfies, not sure about West players.

The story I'm looking into involves a boycott by some Port players over an inclusion in the West team, a cop by the name of McInerny (don't know first name). This cop apparently broke wharfie picket lines and supported wharfies who didn't follow union line (I think they were referred to as scabs). The game went ahead, but as a majority of players and supporters were Wharfie and Seamen unionists, the abuse was intense, and at one stage, a ball kicked into the crowd came back in two.

Is there anyone out there who can lend credence to this story, who knows of it and can add anything? I very much doubt if any of these players would be alive today, bless them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Heaps
Piper

Have you tried getting in touch with the official PAFC historian (I assume they still have one)?

I'd suggest you ring Alberton and make some enquiries.

Good luck in your search.

Hey pied Piper why dont you give that selfconfessed GURU of his beloved bloods kkkkkkennny ccccccunnninngggham a ring he thinks he knows all and he would be 95 years old so would have probably been the umpire
