With all the talk going around about Cousins, Kerr, O'Keefe, Lovett ect, I'm now wondering, who do we have a realistic chance at getting. Our name keeps appearing alongside Collingwood and Carlton, but the salary cap at Carlton can't be that great, and Collingwood can't get everyone. So can some people actually post realistic trades for us.

O'Keefe - realistic. We have the "Sydney" factor, and he would compliment Roo nicely in our F50. Is out of contract and therefore Swans cannot afford to be too pricey with draft choices.

Kerr - unrealistic at WCEs apparent asking price. Not even convinced he's available. Typifies the sort of player we need in the midfield though, but certainly not worth giving away 1st round draft choices for (thinking 2010, 2011 and beyond here)

Lovett - present club apparently doesn't want him, and don't see why we would either. Realistic chance of getting him if we tried, but I see this as a like for like deal at best. Would add pace, but is unreliable, ill-disciplined (off field at least) and inconsistent

Ray - outside player who wants out of present club. Realistic chance but again, don't see why we would want him. We don't need outside runners, we need another insider and for our midfield to work together

Cousins - doesn't want us, so IMO unrealistic. Big chance for anyone to take him on, probably more so after his interview on Saturday. Would possibly add good grunt to our midfield though, and show others the way. As long as it's not the way to the shooting parlour

Boyle - if not O'Keefe, realistic but not convinced he's available

Wojcinski - not convinced he'll become available, and not convinced he cuts it at the top level. A little surprised he's played as many games as he has

R Shaw - word keeps coming that he'll be available, but no thanks

Ben Johnson - not sure about him. Realistic if available. Would need to be cheap

C White - not yet available and haven't seen enough of him to consider too much. Name has bobbed up a few times though. Not sure about contract status

Can't think who else is currently available

Cousins: will more than likely go in the PSD and i think will be a matter of where he wants to go, which at this stage appears to be collingwood, with an outside chance of goin back home to west coast.

Kerr: kerr will be a matter of giving the right price. I think in order to get kerr we will have to trade Dal to essendon for pick 5 and send pick 5 13 and 29, and recieve kerr and pick 20.

st kilda will be giving up some talent in dal and one yound talent in pick 13, but at only 24 kerr may just be worth it.

Ryan O'Keefe: shouldnt be too hard to acquire considering our connection will the swans (lyon, schnider and dempster), but despite only having 2-4 years left he is still a classs act. Swans will want draft picks will an aging side and GC17 coming in, but i reckon Leigh Fisher and pick 47.

Andrew Lovett: should be the easiest to get, as players delisted for disciplanary reasons never have much currency. i would like to see at in a saints jumper in 09, a straight swap for xavier clarke should suit both sides, but the saints may have to throw in pick 95 to get it across the line.

Pick 95 is worth nothing. The only reason we traded a pick in the 90s last year was because you can't trade a player for nothing, and the rules changed so that you didn't have to use the pick you traded a player for (ie. Geelong didn't have to use the pick we gave them)

If X Clarke isn't enough for Essendon, I don't see how pick 95 will help

Then again, I don't see how trading Clarke for Lovett puts us in a better position

LOL Leigh Fisher has no trade value whatsoever

The only AFL list he could possibly be on next year is St Kilda's

.....R u guys serious?
The club just put out Dal and Kosi on the market for a first rounder, do you seriously reckon the club will now recruit 28-30 year olds and hacks when they're letting Dal and Kosi go?

Saints stars Nick Dal Santo and Justin Koschitzke thrown up as trade bait
Greg Denham | September 26, 2008

ST KILDA yesterday denied that contracted big-game flops, Nick Dal Santo and Justin Koschitzke, were being hawked around to rival clubs.
The highly paid pair, who are believed to each earn upwards of $450,000 a season, will remain at Moorabbin next season, unless "a massively attractive trade deal was offered", according to a senior Saints source. Rival Melbourne clubs yesterday reported that both players had been offered to them for first-round draft choices, but this was emphatically denied by St Kilda.

Make of it what you will. I find it hard to believe opposition clubs would lie about it though.

If Kosi & Dal were not offered for trade and opposition clubs came out said they were. What's the point of lying about it?
Clubs have better things to do.

This'll relieve a few:
St Kilda is believed to have a mild interest in O'Keefe, but the club has reiterated that Nick Dal Santo and Justin Koschitzke are not up for trade and is thus unclear how the Saints would satisfy Sydney in a trade.

If Kosi is traded.. who will play forward? besides riewoldt?

Dunno. What are you doing between March and September 2009?

Schneider, Milne, (if we trade Kosi it will most likely be apart of the ROK trade?) so ROK.

Not to mention Allen and Macca getting more game time.

Kosi kicked only 20 something goals this year, shouldn't be too hard to replace.

I tipped him to kick the most goals for us at the start of the year, never looked likely....

He has a point though, we are one dimensional as it is, without Kosi we would literally only have one forward 50 target. Trading him would be cutting off our nose to spite our face.

sorry to come on here, but cousins cant nominate the club he wants to go too, so he has to go to were he gets pick up from!!!

Yeah, but he can say where he WANTS to go, and it's up to the other clubs whether or not they want to risk wasting a pick on him (in the ND) or risking him just not turning up if they take him in the PSD.

Like what happened with G last year. Im sure he woulda gone earlier if he said he didnt care where he played...

Yep. Give me a break mate. newspapers never lie. eg Iraq and weapons of mass destruction. sub prime crisis. Geelong is unbeatable. the list goes on........

Let me make this very clear:

I WANT BOTH KOSI AND DAL TO STAY. THEY ARE BOTH VERY GOOD PLAYERS AND COULD EASILY HAVE MUCH BETTER YEARS IN 2009.

Clear?

The good thing about the Saints propspects in 2009 is that unlike this year, there will be no expectation on us at all.

Of course they lie but i'm sure newspapers have better things to lie about than Kosi & Dal being shopped around.
There's nothing to worry about, Dal is definitley staying, he's had the assurance from the club. And with Kosi, unless we find another ready made ruckman and full forward he ain't goin anywhere. Rest easy guys. :thumbsu:

Didn't say who they'd been offered by. Wouldn't be surprised if the player managers were involved. Maybe trying to sell it to the other club, before approaching the Saints with it. If they can get them a better deal elsewhere, that's their job I guess.
