While the heartland scheme is a great idea - I think that it would be far more practical to offer a scheme where for $60, as a member, we could purchase a one year junior membership for kids in the casey area who cannot afford to go too matches. This way, they get:

To see sixteen games,
Get some mfc merchandise
Will drag another parent to the game

I think this would have a far more positive impact - a more strategic marketing move to involve kids in the club and too build stronger numbers in an area. Lets face it, kids follow other kids - the more kids you have following a club, the more likely others will start following also.

Great idea - the only issue with this still is actually getting to the games. What the MFC have gotta organise is some sort of community/shuttle bus.

As it is I'm pretty sure we pay for Heartland kids tickets but they've gotta make their own way to the G via train. I know Cranbourne/Casey isn't THAT far away but the decision becomes much simpler if transport is organised.

Think I read somewhere that the state government is putting a train line out to the Casey area as part of the development in the area. Don't know how far away that is though.

I like the thinking there, but...:D

if the kid can't afford to go to the footy because s/he comes from a low earning household, then how do you think the parents will fork out the dough for full adult membership so that they can take the 'little tackers' along to the games??

Just drop em off and sit outside reading a book?
