Living With War, which was urgently released last May has been re-released in an even better sounding way, minus the chorus of one hundred voices and overdubs present in the initial release. The choir sung "America the Beautiful" is also gone.

The music rocks and sounds more potent with only Neil's passionate vocals and a power trio of bass, Neil's Old Black and drums. Listening to it a few times in this form, It's among his best straight rock albums, ahead of Ragged Glory and almost as good as Zuma or Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.

I got this today from Amazon it had a bonus DVD with a video for each song and LWW graphics and images depicting the world today with issues such as global warming and the War on Terror, it is nicely done and there is studio footage of how the whole project came together.

The first release from the NYA's "Live at Fillmore East" 1970 also came out late last year but only features 6 songs, however they are great long live Crazy Horse numbers and the playing of Young alongside Danny Whitten is priceless.

Coming this year is a box set from the archives and a release of the "Massey Hall" show from 1971, the second release from NYA.

Livng With War- In The Beginning :thumbsu:

It's good that he's releasing his archives so quickly. Can't wait for the box set.

I reckon he's been working on his box set for 15 years. I remember reading about it in a Rolling Stones interview in the early 90's. It would be pretty hard though, he has an incredible amount of material.

Yeah, those archives have had his fans talking since the 70's. What interests me are early live performances of Neil and Crazy Horse with Danny Whitten. The next in line is a solo show from 1971, where a few of the "Harvest" songs were performed for the first time. The set has stuff from his debut solo album and also the popular "After the Goldrush" as well as some other stuff. With the Fillmore gig release, stuff was left off, not sure if it was Neil being Neil or just the sound quality. Keen botleggers have alot of the stuff. The box set apparantly covers the mid 60's to the early 70's.

My one wish is for "Time Fades Away" to be released, never has been released on CD, only the old vinyl it has some great songs like one of my favourites, "Dont be denied" Part 1 of the ditch trilogy.
