To answer your question i think we probably could. Do i think it will happen, No, especially if the players start reading thread titles like this.

Yes we could kick a record score this week. We could kick one every week.

But will we? Almost certainly not.

It's thinking like this that causes us to get way too far ahead of our ability and our achievements and we end up with a debacle like the Collingwood match in Round 1.

The last time we kicked a club record score was 32 years ago (213 points) so it's not something that happens very often. There have only been 12 higher scores kicked in the VFL/AFL (by ANY team) since then. Our record winning margin is 120 points and even that was a quarter of a century ago.

Don't forget Richmond will be stung by criticism of their Round 1 performance too and will come out hard, so don't expect an automatic cakewalk.

Let's just worry about getting the four premiership points. The margin will be whatever it is and as long as we win we should be grateful.

Um, I want us to win too.

But it's this sort of arrogance that can and has undone us in the past.

Everyone assumed we would smash the pants off Melbourne (who IMO are worse than Richmond) last year and we put in a disgraceful, arrogant display and were dead lucky to win.

There is a difference between confidence and arrogance. I think we should beat Richmond easily, but going in with the mindset of "Lets kick a record score!" is arrogant and not good for the club.

I thought we should have won by heaps more. Our club has never been arrogant. We lose prelims because we have no belief. Its a lack of arrogance. Watch the worlds greatest spoprts stars, they'rew all arrogant. Kobe Bryant is the most arrogant sportsman you'll find, but he's a winner.
