I can't even tell who is who out there today on the tv, the guernseys are so similar from a distance. Anyone who thinks otherwise must have Superman like vision. I was wondering why we weren't wearing our new "clash" guernsey but that dog's breakfast would possibly be the only thing worse.

We MUST have a clash guernsey which is plain red, maybe with blue and gold strips vertically down the side to appease those who believe me must have our traditional colours in the guernsey.

The red would only clash with Melbourne & Sydney but their guernseys are predominantly blue and white.

Get on board! It's our state colour and studies have proved that teams that wear red have more success. Go the mighty RED CROWS!!!

Spot on Bosley. If we didn't have to where a clash now why did we have to win it in our finals game?

As much as we hated it, the red one needed to be worn. Or better yet just come up with a decent damn clash. A white one would do fine.

are teams supposed to have more than 1 clash guernsey?
the crows introduced their new clash guernsey, which obviously has too much yellow in it to be worn against the hawks. i don't think there was a clash problem (just poor skills) and i thought maybe the red clash guernsey was discarded.

not sure what it was like watching it from the ground, but watching it on tv, i thought it was fine. not once did i mistake navy blue for brown/gold.

I had no problems with the guernseys today. Good to see us wearing our normal guernsey. DONT bring back that horrible red guernsey from last year.

I am no fashion expert but I would suggest that if two girls rolled up to a party, one with brown and gold vertical stripes on her dress, the other with dark blue and yellow horizontal stripes then they would be very embarrassed that they were wearing extremely similar attire.

It is a losing battle but I am going to keep banging on about it all year.

Haha you really made me laugh after a disappointing footy afternoon. (just quietly - they were 22 guys and not two girls, not sure how much the fashion statement mattered to them, and hawthorn wear the colour of excrement every week  with little problem) However if they were in matching Chanel, or Prada you would have war between said two girls. Sorry for the O/T but you really gave me a laugh, bless your cotton socks :)

wow, the guernseys are so alike, it almost looks like one person.
no, i still don't see the clash problem.

From a distance it was hard to tell the teams apart. Up close now worries. I would have liked us to wear the red guernsey.

The thing is, it is only the gold/yellow that stands out from a distance. All you can see is dark and gold. Red was the logical colour for us to wear.

I had no problems either. The Crows wore exactly what I expected them to wear. Too much red and yellow in our new away guersey would have clashed more with the Hawks.

Good 4 u Spackler. Obviously I wasn't talking about watching the players from one metre away! It is from further away that the problems occur.

I have said this before on another thread re: jumper clashes.

It is not about whether you can tell them apart, it is how QUICKLY you can tell them apart.

We do have a clash guernsey which is practically plain red. We are just too scared to wear it because we always lose in it:eek: The guernsey we wore against the Bulldogs is our away guernsey, which we will normally wear away.

For some reason we went with our "home" guernsey on the weekend when we probably should have worn the red one.

My goodness, how could anyone not tell the difference? One has primary colour of blue, with horizontal stripes, and the other guernsey had primary colour of gold, with vertical stripes. I really cant believe anyone could have ANY problem at all.

Complaining for the sake of complaining...I guess this is Adelaide, it is the South Aussie Way.

We have played Hawthorn since our first game 1991 using the same jumper and it has never been a problem.

It is not a huge problem. There are many more worse clashes. But that does not mean you don't try and improve.

If everyone sat back and was just happy with the status quo there would be no progress in this world.

How is having a clash jumper progress. Who actually benefits. The AFL in jumper sales.

The only team we "clash" with is Melbourne and even that is a stretch to not be able to tell teams apart.

Clash jumpers are needed in Soccer as there are teams in the same league with same colours. Man U and Liverpool???

In Aussie Rules we dont have that. The only chance this could of happened was quashed when the AFL made Port add Teal and Silver. Also the differing designs solves any problems. Plus there is the age old solution of wearing white shorts.

That is quite small minded and cynical thinking.

It makes viewing of the game easier, it is as smiple as that. If you don't think it makes viewing easier then you are in denial.

If you don't care about making viewing easier than you are anti progressive thinking and probably a dyed-in-the-wool conservative...not that there is anything wrong with that.

but you mentioned you had trouble distinguishing them on tv; are you short sighted or anything, maybe you can just sit closer.

Ha ha, this made me laugh because I do wear glasses but I assure you that is not why I made the thread. Besides my mother has warned me I will get "square eyes" if I sit too close.

I must say the camera work at Aurora didn't help either, when they panned to a wide shot it was pretty poor vision compared to what you normally get.

What if their shorts get muddy like at the Gabba a couple of weeks ago? Won't somebody think of the children?!

No teams the same colours? What about Carlton and Geelong?

Surely you must concede that the Kangaroos and Collingwood guernseys clash. Also Melbourne and Carlton ... Richmond and Essendon.

Oh, wait a minute, Collingwood have developed that marvellous "clash" guernsey that is actually identical to their home one.

Just because something has been going on for years does not mean there is no problem. How about the Hundred Years War? There were problems ...
