Great to see us doing ok without a strong reliance on Sayers & Mennie.

Interesting that Nielsen said they intended to manage Winter by bringing him in when the Duke balls were in use as will suit him swinging the ball. This was mentioned before he got his wickets.

What's the deal with the Duke ball?
We played with it the last few matches last year of the shield season are we doing the same this year or have we been doing so all Shield season?

Do we have have plans on switching completely in Australia?

We've used it for the back half of the last two seasons and I assume will next season. It's preparation for the Ashes 2019. Guess they'll assess the success or otherwise after that series. Certainly it is making the batters work harder and have to adapt to the moving ball which you'd think would be a good thing.

I think also CA are trying to put some pressure on Kookaburra to produce a better and more affordable cricket ball. Rather than just having a monopoly where it's a given that every competition in Australia uses a Kookaburra. And every club pays through the nose for cricket balls because there is no alternative. They've now created some competition - if Kookaburra want the business then what can they do for us?

Apparently the Duke they are using is a bit different from the one they use in England. They have had to toughen it up with some extra lacquer so that it survives on the harder, more abrasive Australian pitches.
