So Chuck is back.

Tim Nielsen said he was consulted about Botha being sacked, Berry said he wasn't....... something smells.

He is contracted for another year, if Nielsen and Co are undermining him will he even want to stay. There's been a few messy exits from SACA in recent times, this one could be the worst.

I only live down the road from Gliderol so I thought about packing up the laptop and taking some work down there. Glad I've stayed at home in front of Scotland v Bangladesh to be honest. All the doors and windows are open and the dog is sleeping on the couch next to me, way better than watching us get carted for a gazillion runs on a concrete road...

3 quick ones..... WE ARE BACK !!!!

I feel bad for mocking them

Pitch is flat as a pancake. Watched a bit on the live feed - not a single ball moved all day.

Seriously, why would we prepare wickets like this? The only points on offer are for outright wins so we need to be able to take 20 wickets.

Why wouldn't they leave at least some moisture in them?

Doh!

He related that he had wanted to stay in SA but the offer was insulting, was at pains to say that he didn't want to sound conceited but to put it in perspective, the Tas offer was approx 6 x the amount and that he was far from their highest paid.

Said communication was non existent and that Berry wanted him to stay. That almost 100% of SA players were dissatisfied with SACA admin.

In general felt he was treated poorly, was concerned for SA cricket and was sick of seeing season after season wasted because of poor admin

That about covers it

Poor admin is one thing which we have seen but these players must take some ownership.

That said, weve seen how inept the whole organisation.

Klinger tried to take ownership.

Botha tried to take ownership.

Tait seems to have tried.

SACA admin seems to only care about their own esteemed positions.

Far out they're depressing

I agree to a point there but thats 3 out of the squad in 4 years. The majority of the organisation are all about blaming each other and passing the buck.

Strong willed individuals dont belong here it seems, itll swallow Chuck soon.

That's 3 out of the squad that we know about.

Add Harris, Christian; as you say, quality players with backbone, ambition and the desire to succeed don't seem like they're welcome at the Redbacks.

Yet we welcome Cosgrove back; says it all really.

You could draw parallels between them and the Crows under Trigg; and I'd suggest the same will apply - too many at the top concerned about their own position and not willing to drive change to actually improve things. I doubt anything will happen until somebody with the will and the profile/backing of someone like Roo starts turning over tables.

It's eerily similar, isn't it?

and we may have welcomed back Cosgrove, but he had the last laugh. Didn't he win two Shields in his four years with Tassie? Too fat to play for the bottom team, but fat enough to win the Shield twice.

Because Tasmania had enough talented players ahead of him that he could just coast around, swinging his fat arms in the middle order, while others did the hard yards. Here he had the talent and was given the encouragement to be the main man, but wasn't interested - then or now.

Getting rid of him was the right thing, bringing him back was the wrong thing.

Really?

2010/11
159 & 16, 50 & 35, 13 & 9, 40 & 2, 100 & 86*, 23 & 12, 86, 12, 29 & 43*, and the final 44 & 47* for a total of 806 @ 53.7 - highest run-scorer for the competition that season (won the Shield)

2011/12
11 & 50, 5 & 9, 37, 40 & 36, 10, 44 & 25*, 67, 13, didn't play in the final, for a total of 347 @ 31.5

2012/13
84 & 44, 104, 56 & 24, 0 & 2, 4 & 13, 42, 36 & 92, 1 & 1, 25 & 63, 81 & 50, and the final 58 and 4 for a total of 784 @ 39.2 - second highest run scorer for competition that season, behind team mate Ricky Ponting (won the Shield)

2013/14
74 & 11, 2 & 8, 26 & 2, 31 & 81, 8 & 4, 71 & 48, 7 & 20, 55 & 19, 110, for a total of 577 @ 33.9

That's 2,514 runs at an average of 39.9 - surely yes you'd think he could do better. Over four seasons, he hit 4 centuries and 16 fifties. He should have converted more. But to say, "Because Tasmania had enough talented players ahead of him that he could just coast around, swinging his fat arms in the middle order, while others did the hard yards." is a fail. The two seasons he did the hard yards - first and second in the runs scored in the competition - they won the Shield.
