Not the complete story that I've heard.

There were rumours, nothing more.

The kid himself didn't know anything about them, but what would he know. You can check that.

You can check up his 18s record & draft camp results... played every game + champs, one of the very top players; and did all the draft camp running events and again, did very well.
All clubs had access to his scans, and access to him to do their own scans.

I've no idea if we did start the rumours, perhaps we did.
Either way, if any club was dumb enough to change their decision based on those rumours, when they directly contradict every available fact, they are idiots, jumping at shadows.

I can't understand what Stevens point is with this list. Is he saying who is the best player after last year, at the start of this year, at the end of this year, at the end of 5 years? What is the point of comparing manchilds like Darling, Jones and Shuey to pyshically immature players like Matera, Pittard and Conca...
For what it's worth, if it was a list of how good the players will be by the time they are 21 years old Conca has shown that he has the ability to be in the top 6. Is a very well rounded player. As opposed to someone like Liam Jones could be playing vfl by that time.

Is very quick for his size, laid a lot of run down from behind type tackles last year. I just query whether he has the height to become a true KPF. As you say, once he gets the first or second best defender, his life as a forward will be made somewhat harder.

kids dont go from being one of the best in the country to nuffas in a season.
ive heard it all over the yrs. to skinny. too slow , hes a man child so wont have an upside. hes an inbetweener poor attitude etc etc etc. and what gets overlooked every single time is probably the two most important things for a player to make it at afl.

geez i can see him being one of the best utilities in the comp, with a motor he could play thru midfield, coming off hb and he would be awesome.
i still thjink jason cloke should have been at the least tried as a mid having been made to work at certain areas.

im just as guilty as the next bloke of actually pdgeon holing players. but darling has shown he can in time probably play almost anywhere just look at his attributes. he may have to do a bit of work on specifics but i reckon he could.

I saw reid play against GWS and i have to say i wasnt too impressed, well beaten by phil davis and he had no support in marking contests.

Reid had to work up the ground for too many of his touches and was goalless AGAINST GWS!!!

five-year deal very premature IMO

We have a significant record of overrating 1st round draft picks , Conca has done very very little and is far from a lock in our best 22 .
He appears to be rated within the broader community on about par , upon here he is severly overrated .
Has a while to go and may be a very good player , however at the moment is only in our best 22 on a week to week basis . 2 poor games and he should be playing VFL .
