Looks like a clean cut law abiding citizen, can't have him going into the draft looking like that, needs to spend a weekend with Swanny and get inked up at the very least.

rankings is one thing. Where they get bidded on and drafted is another.
i'm looking at it this way. A team isn't bidding on a player who likely would need a season, or half a season in the VFL because he has barely played much minutes in the midfield. Especially if you're picking him over the likes of Will Phillips, Archie Perkins and the like.
So would you really bid on a player in the top 10 when he would need development? I'm not so sure.
Reef's best position may be the midfield, but top 10 picks are those expected to play right away. He won't. He needs experience in that area at a higher level than some school footy.
This is why I believe he won't go as high as the media are trying to sell us.
because he is young. Hasn't played in over 12 months and hasn't had much exposure in the area he will be best at. Unless he gets played as a forward or defender..How do you know he won't play RD 1 in 2021?

Or we just don't pick him.If a bid comes high and we have to spend a pick we don’t want to spend to match him..... then that’s the price we have to pay for getting rubbish trades done for Treloar Stephenson and Phillips.

Hi Dave I think Jen outlined the reasons. He needs footy and is very young and skinny. He’s not a widely exposed player and gets more airtime than he should cos he is linked to pies. Plus he has a memorable name
And unless he is linked to you, surely you don't bid on a player within the top 10 you don't expect to play for a while. Early picks are used for ready made players.Hi Dave I think Jen outlined the reasons. He needs footy and is very young and skinny. Yes, but when they did play last year, the other draftees have had more exposure and are more highly rated because of it.That be the same of just about all the Vic Draftees as they not played footy in about a Year
Or we just don't pick him.
That would go down well.Or we just don't pick him.
Wouldn't you assume that most of them will need at least half a season in the VFL?i'm looking at it this way. So I'm tending to think these scare tactics about an early bid, will be just that. Attempt for us to make some sort of deal to get in front of a bid. In realistic terms, around pick 15-16 would be more likely.
But my point is, that's why I don't think Essendon will bid. Those kids in the top 10 shouldn't need as much development as reef will need. This is why Essendon will go with someone like Perkins, Phillips and maybe one of the talls (Cox/Reid, whomever, or Thithorpe if he slips through)Then going on that we might Pass on Reef IF Essendon make a Early Bid
Emotional response. That would go down well.
One of our highly rated academy prospect in years that has everything we are lacking, and we pass in a compromised draft because we didn't want to spend the points even though we lost 12 players...
No, we don't. But why wouldn't you want him? Most versatile player in the draft. He is certainly worth it.Emotional response.
We don't owe him anything.
