Did a bit of work during some down time in the last couple of days, and have mapped out the location of the 42 teams in D1-D4.

Here's what a regionalised D1-D4 might look like.

http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?i...34285554267749.000492ed4a9e7d1f7b14a&t=h&z=10

Please Note:
D1 North & South are made up of D1-D2 teams only

D2 North & South are made up of D3-D4 teams only

You could go any of 3 ways as I see it:
No regionalising
Regionalise D3-D4 only
Regionalise D1-D4

That looks pretty good Rooster. You must have some time on your hands.

End of the day if you have outer bourbs teams like SFX, Penninsula, South Mornington, Point Cook, Lilydale and Westbourne, you are going to have to do some travel.

Blue looks like a great comp, lot of rivalries. Although Prahran v Chadstone would be a flogging of biblical proportions.

Would / Could Prahran v Chadstone be any worse than this WRFL Div 2 game from round 5 this year?

NORTH SUNSHINE3.5-23 def. by ALBANVALE67.22-424

Would a regionalised comp force weaker clubs to improve over time? Or would the difference between the top and bottom remain, just the names of the teams change?

It would become a huge jump between D1 - C I think.

You would think that weaker clubs would only go one of two ways. Sink or swim.

Unfortunately I reckon that you'd hear the clunk on the bottom of the pool with a couple. And it would be sad & wrong if that was because they were forced into a situation where they were uncompetitive (more so than they currently are).

North Sunshine were missing a couple key players who were injured that day.

This is an ill-conceived idea IMO.

Instead of having the system now which reflects a club's true ranking in the overall amateur competition, we would have a bastardized ranking system which ranks you in an area instead.

There will be pointless arguments about which side of town is better and in the case where one division is signifivcantly better than the other, we may have the situation where the 4th or 5th best team in a given year is undeservedly rewarded with promotion.

I think it is about time the VAFA do its job pull its head out its Ahole and tell everyone WTF is going on as this BS is going to affect planning and statagies for next year

we have the best most competive comp there is and our 72nd best side would be competitive with any side in the lowest division of any other comp. Dont fix whats not broken.
