Who honestly knows what the tribunal will make of this, I tend to think he was going to ground and momentum carried his leg up, it didnt look malicious. But who knows?

Thrown out or weeks for Kyle?? I would hate to see him miss a week after hes been playing good footy lately.

Thoughts?

Re: Reimers report

Not sure of his record but a trip generally only results in a reprimand these days.

Except of course if it was Fletcher. It would be 4 weeks.

Re: Reimers report

Fletch was within 50m of the trip, he'll go for 2 and Riemers will get off.

Very nice, I was going to go with 'Dustin Fletcher was believed to be within ear-shot and the boundary umpire heard him yell out of instinct to Kyle to trip him. Dustin will receive 2 weeks, whilst Kyle will be let off."

Re: Reimers report

Didnt see much in it when they replayed it on the news.... will either get a reprimand or it will be thrown out.

Re: Reimers report

It really looked incidental whilst going for the ball, he had already committed to sliding in to try to get the ball then the eagles player grabbed it first and then stumbled over Reimers trying to evade him. I don't think theres much in that, maybe a week. Hope he gets off because he's playing some brilliant footy at the moment. That 3rd quarter burst was pretty amazing and probably broke the game open.

Re: Reimers report

I think he will get done. Looked to raise his leg to trip.

Stupid rule, but it's there.

Would have been better off sliding in and taking a guys legs out from under him. Much much more dangerous, but within the rules...

Re: Reimers report

I think he will get off. Before the trip you can see that the ground gave way below him and he lost his balance. The reaction he did after that was basically because he fell over. They will go with that defence and it'll be ok.

It may even get thrown out this afternoon.

Re: Reimers report

He did raise his leg though, I think it's bullshit if he goes, but it was there. If I chuck the blinker on I'd say that it was part of him falling to ground but in reality it was split second reaction to his opponent running away.

Re: Reimers report

He should be fine.

The Eagles player barely even made contact with Reimers. Didn't fall over.... didn't even want to stop until the umpire forced him to so that he could hold up the game up and report Reimers. (and then force the Eagles player to take his kick 3 times because he was too busy scribbling in his little pad)

But as somebody said, who knows with the MRP these days. When you slow footage down, everything looks deliberate and calculated.

Christ, our game is getting really pathetic these days...

Thrown out!

Re: Reimers report

I like to think I'm more objective than most supporters of any club, as such, I tend to call a spade a spade, I don't care if it's an Essendon player or otherwise.

I admit I would like another look at the video, but my feeling was that Reimers went to ground and the Eagles player tripped over his already outstretched leg, that is, he contributed to his own tripping. Reimers appeared to raise his leg, but at the time I felt that was caused by the Eagles player dragging Reimers leg up.

I recall at the time not being concerned in the slightest about Reimers missing any matches.
