All is not over, it was one defeat and although it was 10 goals I'm sure we will learn a lot from it. Tops teams can still get flogged as well and come back and dominate afterwards, seen it before and we will see it again.

We are still 2nd, there is still 4 games between us and 4th position and next week Carlton would want to look out, we aren't going to dish out that second half football again.

The game today was digraceful but think....Geelong got murdered by Collingwood. Its one loss and we need to make up for it next week

That is the key to it. We have to not only learn from it, but apply strategies so it doesn't happen again.

We came up against a top team that showed us what intensity and pressure is required to match it with the big boys. We failed dismally but we have a chance to redeem ourselves by winning finals. But we have to act on what we learnt today.

Next week doesn't really matter. It proves nothing if we beat Carlton by 10 goals. It only proves something if we can learn from todays game and apply it in finals. Otherwise todays game was a waste of time.

The near enough is good enough attitude has to stop. It's the reason why we've only won one flag in our history.

I want us to be the best, and nothing short of that will make me happy.

mate nobodies calling for heads today we were out played by the best team since brisbane as simple as that so why start a thread called relax?

Well what a lesson we got taught today. Forwards were awful besides Gia and Welsh. Midfield got smashed, Cooney has dropped off in the last couple of weeks and has to lift his game. Even though we were even at half time it was only because of there missess. I will state this for the last time he may of kicked 2 goals but Eagletons intensity at the opposition against good strong sides is so average he will not man up and go in for a hard contest and I will state we will not win a flag while he plays, Geelong does not have 1 wide reciver and either did the Lions when they won.
I was happy with Tiller I thought him , Hudson, Addison and Gia were just about our best players. Well good lessons to be learn't before finals football as there is not much space when you play good teams.
One more thing Wight should have played and Harbrow should have played in the two's. Not good enough boys especially the not trying in the last quarter.
Go Doggies

Nice little steadier, wasn't it? No excuses, just beaten comprehensively.

The important thing is to learn from it, as others have said. Really, it was just one quarter of football that let us down, and I reckon they've talked about that in the rooms post-game.

We've known all year that the Cats were the testing material. Now we know what we're up against. No doubt the coaching panel will work on it, and hopefully the side will be better if we play the Cats in the finals.

I hope we don't go looking for scapegoats after today. Address the problems, yes - point the finger: No!

What a load of crap.

Welsh was a passenger.
Why pick on Eagleton today when there were probaly 10 worse than him?
Wight would have been useless out there today...at least Harbrow chases and tackles
What a lot of bullshit about not trying in the last quarter. Their confidence was shot by that stage and they had lost all semblance of structure

The whole 'one game' thing doesn't set well with me.

They should of been 'up' for this game, to be belted by 10+ goals in a game that was pumped up is pathetic.

We still can't deal with expectation; we were expected to perform, I wasn't overly fussed if we went down by a few goals, but we laid down like dogs today. If we're ever going to get anywhere, THESE are the games that we need to perform in - not just one's like next week.

I damn sure hope the players are hurting.

Spot on, especially that last. Lake up forward looked like he was laying the big brown one every time the ball came near him. Absolute rabble-type stuff.

Confidence and structure shouldn't impact on the players ability to chase and lay proper tackles. How many Geelong players broke through bulldog players tackles? Its not good enough for us if we expect to win finals.

We bent over and took it in the last quarter. We were there abouts at 3/4 time. The scoreboard isn't really indicative. We're a better team than that scoreboard says.

Scarlett had 32 possessions & Welsh had 8. They may not have played on each other the entire day, but Welsh was very poor today.

We weren't good from about the 10 minute mark of the 3rd, but to say that we were pathetic is rather over dramatising the loss. The guys applied intensive pressure in the first two qtrs but couldn't break the shackles. The two late goals in the 2nd qtr really hurt. They had momentum going into the 3rd and carried on from there. Once they did that it was all over. If you apply sustained pressure for long periods against Geelong you have a chance. However it is a big IF.

Are you serious at least Harbrow had a go and threw his body on the line, what could Wight have done today, Eagleton was good today and your saying that with Eagleton we wont win a priemiership because hes a wide reciever is crap if your having a crack at Eagleton what about Ray? Welsh was pathetic, completely unsighted.

One thing I will say is that we needed to take our chances, particularly early on. Playing at skilled stadium did have an impact in this regard. We seemed to miss targets on a number of occasions in the first quarter when the wind carried the ball long or wide. Not sure the same conditions will be such a factor at the MCG. Home ground was a factor today.....but not the factor.

That's what really hurt us today. We had a two goal lead midway through the 2nd, had we of been able to get one maybe two more goals and go into halftime with 3 to 4 goal lead who knows what would have happened. Instead we let them back in with two goals. Bang all over.

We also kicked 5 behinds in the first 12 minutes of the 3rd, whilst geelong kicked accurately for 4 straight. Giving them their 3 goal lead.
Who knows what would have happened if we converted?

Working tirelessly for goals only to let down by misses is realy demoralising for the players. Especially when its counterattacked by a goal from opposition. They just rolled us from there.

The disappointing thing was not standing up to it when the pressure got tough.

I think we all wanted to beat the best, but it is done now the best thing to do is move on to next week and not let it happen again and make sure next time we play Geelong we give 4 quarter effort.
