removing yahoo messenger

I'm a real computer ignoramus.
I've had yahoo messenger installed for a while, but it is annoying me and i want to remove it..... how do I go about this?

Click Start, All Programs, Yahoo Messenger, Uninstall Yahoo Messenger (that's what I get on XP anyway).
