Looking at renting a house with 1 person (2 people max)
Only 20 and not sure exactly on the bill cost...

Could someone from Melbourne give me a rough estimate on the monthly bills for water, gas and electricity?

Any other bills I am forgetting? Obviously rent, food, etc etc.

A: Rattlesnakes live in A-meri-ca which is where YOU come from. All Australian snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make good pets.

Q: I have a question about a famous animal in Australia, but I forget its name. It's a kind of bear and lives in trees.(USA)
A: It's called a Drop Bear. They are so called because they drop out of gum trees and eat the brains of anyone walking underneath them. You can scare them off by spraying yourself with human urine before you go out walking.

It will vary a lot depending on what sort of appliances you have (air conditioning, radiators, dishwasher, dryer), what sort of hot water system you have (gas, electric, solar), what sort of cooktop you have (gas, electric), how well the place is insulated, and so forth.

The bottom line is that you are probably better off asking the agent for each particular property you look at how much the utility bills typically amount to.

Also consider moving into a share house that is looking for someone, they will have a good idea of costs, plus the house will usually be furnished, meaning you only need to supply your bedroom stuff, and maybe a couple of other items, rather than fitting out a whole house from scratch.

Depends mate on a range of things ...at a guess $100 month for utilities ...other costs aside from food are Internet, bond and buying any electrical items you don't have (vaccie, kettle etc)

If you are going out for the first time - would strongly recommend having a few months rent stashed if you can. It is more expensive than you think.

Plus set the rules on expenditure - how are you divvying up basic items? Are you having a kitty where you each chuck in $50 and you buy crap like dish washing liquid, sauce etc.
