Nice set-up from Jimmy-Floyd but absolutely ignorant defending to let Melchiot slice through like that. Phillips will be reliving that miss for a long time too, but to be fair Duff went very close too and Hasselbaink should have at least got it on target when he miskicked.

Congratulations to Kleberson, finished off a sweeping move expertly for his first goal for the club Both goals set-up by the one and only Quinton Fortune too.

I agree, mate. We were absolutely killed in the stats. Southamtpon had an extra nine attempts at goal, had 54% of the ball and two shots on target compared to our one - the goal kicked by Melchiot.

We've gone 450 minutes now, in all competitions, without conceding a goal. All our 1-0 wins haven't been inspiring victories, but it's a good sign that we can win these games, because last year we would have probably drawn these types of matches.

Can't wait for the Man. United game. There is a double header on foxtel which is also showing the Arsenal and Fulham match, which won't be a bad game, considering Fulham knocked Man. United off 3-1 a month ago.

We are clear favourite to beat Sparta Prague, too. $1.28 we're paying for the win.

Boy number five is home and well. Going to start my own Southampton youth club down under

On the game tho, when i saw the players we were missing i thought a spanking was on the cards. The boys did play well and were unlucky not to get a point.

Just saw the highlights package on SBS and that Pongolle penalty claim was pretty obvious. Should have being given a penalty but what can you do.

Yes, I think we are entitled to have a bit of a whinge about that - bloody atrocious decision. The final insult was the ref paying a goal kick!
