A few weeks ago I found out that Neil Daniher had walked away from his job at Melbourne. A week or two later I'm on the Internet at school on the AFL website (really shouldn't have been but oh well), and found out Connolly had walked as well. Then Pagan got axed. Then Kevin Sheedy.

Now today Kouta's injured himself and has retired immediately. Hird and Archer said that they are retiring for sure at the end of the season. Buckley will probably go as well. So will Chris Grant. It might just be the year Robert Harvey gives the game away as well.

Some people in the media suggest that Terry Wallace might also get fired at the end of the year (payed out, as he has one year left on his contract).

Who do you think will go at the end of this year?

I think Kouta summed it up well when he said that some people get to choice when they go but he had been pretty lucky regardless. He is right, remember Blake Caracella? He had a great career ahead of him but he got a injury to the neck.

Will Nathan Buckley get to choice when he goes out?

Has he got anything left in him?

I think big Terry Wallace has 4 years left on his contract as they gave him a 5 year renewal, but I see your point, a lot of new blood coming into footy, the questions for Collingwood are:
a. is it worth it for Bucks to do another pre season,
b. does he want to, and
c. whats in it for the Pies given that others have stepped up this year.
The ongoig conjecture really doesn't help, and although he is on the veterans list, if he retires it will help with list management. As so many have said, it is his call as he has carried this frustrating unit of a footy club on his shoulders for years. Do you reckon all the retirees and sacked coaches will all go and have a secret piss up where they damn the fans and footy media to hell? Good luck to 'em if they do!

I only hope Bucks can make it out, just once more even, he deserves the heroes send off awaiting him. How great would it be .... to send him off with a win ... on the last Saturday in September, something he thoroughly deserves!

Thought Terry had two years left.

No I'm pretty sure he's only got one left. I don't think Richmond will give him the axe though, but then again the way things have panned out this season, who bloody knows!

I think Nathan knows that this will be his last season. If he had played football this year he may have gone on, but being injury riddled very late in his career and not being able to get onto the park is unfortunate.

I would think most of us also know that he has that change in body language. His approach to injuries and dillema's over his career have always been shrug the shoulder, i know nothing, i'm not gonna tell you, you'll have to put a gun to my head, sort of stuff. The last month, he has been true to his word, and has pretty much admitted it is time to go, but he wants to play another game, we all know that.

Like any true champion, Buckley will make his own decision when to retire and whatever decision he makes will be the correct decision (as do Hird and Kouta). Coaches are a different story!

Yes but he might not get to play another game. Look at Arron Hamill. He's younger than Buckley and is struggling majorly, (he might go at the end of the year as well), Buckley is my favorite player to ever play the game in my lifetime but he might not be able to get himself up for one last game. I hope he does but as he said himself, he's only got one last shot at it.

One has to happen, Rocca MUST GO!
From there we must look at trading some mid level players, Holland while a fave of mine just isn't doing it for us anymore.

Whenever Rocca starts being really bad for a few weeks he comes out the next week and kicks 5... He is maybe the most inconsistent player on our list.

I don't care.
This week we play Carlton and yes he may kick 4 or 5 or a bigger bag, but when was the last time he did it against a side in the 8 or higher on us?

Geelong made him look like a fool, the doggies ran off him all day and he missed easy goals (cost us the game as he could have put them away by half time). He'll have to kick 20 this week for me to think he's had a good game, Carlton have the worse backline in the AFL and there for a big power house like Rocca has to show something.
5 won't be enough!

Daniher to Essendon
Sheedy to Melbourne

Then in 2 years.

Sheedy to Richmond
Wallace to Melbourne

I read in the paper last week before the Brisbane game he is thinking of joining his brother in the states in 2 years and attempting to forge a career as a punter as well.

Same. He said something along the line of 'I'll look into it for sure when I'm done playing AFL'

Well a day after I make this topic Luke Darcy retires. Chris Grant will follow him. Aka might even if he gets a injury... Not likley to quit though but you never know. Oh and I forgot, Darren Gaspa also quit this year (He played for Richmond).

If Medhurst doesn't pull his finger out then add him to the list.

Hahahaha what do you know he had a crap week last week and DID kick 5, and a assist in the goal square :D

They think The Roo is on his last legs as well :(

This is going to be one of the biggest years for retirements...
