Essendon's grog squad is ok but too small and too quiet. At one Richmond-Essendon game the Richmond grog squad drowned the Essendon one put and rendered them mute.

I was at Essendon Freo today. To be honest I was completely horrified to see BOTH Cheer Squad ends only half full. Ok with Freo, a lowly supporeted club in Victoria there is an excuse, but with Essendon it is nigh on unexcusable.

I do think I heard some Essendon singing from up behind the Cheer Squad in the 3rd quarter. Whilst indicates how much noise the rest of their fans make.

JF you would be interested to know the Port Magpies now have a grog squad, which made there debut against Norwood at the Parade.

Also Centrals fans at it again letting go a flare at Elizabeth Saturday night.

thank christ for the Essendon Grog Squad because our cheer squad is ********ing pathetic, easily the worse in the competition, an absolute joke. oty.

Barely make a whimper when we kick a goal, or simply sit there with angry looks on their faces when one of our players get taken out, but refuse to actually make any noise at any time.

Quite ironic really that they are 'cheer squad' seeing the refuse to actually cheer and support the team.

Our cheer squad is worse. I bet.

Essendon has one and it's great. Richmond have one also.

Actually, more so the other way. Richmonds one is so much better than any others teams. Essendons though is preety decent.

Overgrown & often former Cheer Squad members that don't have the courage to think for themselves & always feel security in numbers.

Actually it's more the fans who show up and just support. No front row tickets or function invitations. Just pure grunt to help support the team. Usually a few catchy chants in there as well that the cheersquads cant use.

Btw, your description perfectly suits most cheersquads.

Tend to agree sadly. The minimal number of persons in the Essendon cheer squad last week was embarassing. They didn't make much noise either at that.

Absolutely love the Richmond Grog Squad.

They are extremely loud and create a better athmosphere at the footy.

I remember last season, the Dream Time Game, I was sitting in the forward pocket at the Punt Road End and they were so loud and my 3 Essendon mates loved it also.

Didn't Brisbane used to have the Lynch Mob? Maybe they disbanded when Alastair retired.

Brisbane still have the Lynch Mob, it actually started when Lynch played at Fitzroy, after Lynch retired we gave him our 'Lynch Mob' banner. We just call ourselves 'The Mob' now, though we flirted with the idea of calling ourselves 'The Brown-eyes'

I think Hawthorn are generally excellent. They show their colours proudly, have a lot of the Cheer Squad up & chanting, & bring their floggers nearly everywhere.

This is the new Supporters Club I'm referring to here & NOT the old Official & Rebel Cheer Squads who were often so badly behaved that when they came to Sydney extra security were brought in to keep a watch on them. That lot basically stopped bringing flags & banners to games and started just bringing cardboard Jack Daniels bottle cut-outs, as well as the odd bottle of shaving cream that they could fire off onto the home fans if they felt like it.
