if anyone knows the family in question can you PM some details? I work at sherrin and want to try help replace it if they haven't got one already.
Well done young man

What a shit campaigner dad. Stop being a tight arse and just buy the kid a new one. And why is he taking photos of the kid crying and posting it on social media?

Not everyone can afford to replace a ball

I still remember my old man bought me a leather ball for my 8th bday, it was massive for me. I had only ever played with plastic balls in the past (its all my school had) , and this became one of my most loved gifts

Not everyone has the cash to just buy a new ball, so don't assume everyone is as well off as you

Love the smell of a brand new leather footy!
I remember I used to sleep with my new footy when I was a kid - wouldn't kick it or even take it outside for the first couple of weeks.

Those Auskick balls are like $10. If he can't afford one then he's going to have trouble raising his kid in this day and age.

For some family's $10 is a big deal
He could afford to take his son to the footy, took a photo of his son on his swish phone that has a high quality camera, made some rant on Instagram so he obviously has internet access... I'm sure he could fork out $10 to put his son out of his misery.

My dad takes pics with his phone, that he bought for $5 at a trash n treasure

As the kid he'd be free or $5, and the dad $17 if he had a concession card

Again, don't assume people have the same disposable income as you. None of us know the circumstances of the family

So all he needs to do is sacrifice not going to the football for one game and he can buy his son a new ball. Problem solved.

Again, how do you know this isnt the only game they are going too?

Due to cost I didn't go to my first game till I was 15 because my folks couldn't afford it

If he's 5 and it's his prized possession, it might not be as simple as buying him another one. You can't always just buy a kid another teddy bear to replace a lost one if he knows it's not the same one. Kid's still gonna grieve for his lost mate.

I don't. I was just using an example of how easy it would be to recoup $10 to replace the ball. A small sacrifice could put his son out of his misery. It seems the dad just wants a free ride and he humiliated his son in the process.

Never said the kid had no right to be upset mate. If that's the case then I believe that losing the footy might be good for the kid in the long run. A minor grieving process could prepare him better for what's to come later on in life. Can't shelter them forever.

Auskick footys are as easy to get as a leaf off a tree. I had a bag of them that i got for free 6 years ago because someone left a whole bag of brand new ones sitting in a paddock and never come back for them after a clinic. Nab give them out for free regularly. It would be a case of the kid wanting his footy back or principle because he shouldn't have to get him a new one. I used to have footy that i had for 10 years and i wouldn't replaced it with any other footy. But of course the day came and the seam split open and all i had left was the orange rubber thing. That was moment i knew i had to part ways with my footy and get a new one.

My brother's wife is one of the bosses :p
