Just been thinking about our dismal, heartless showings and established it is mainly between the ears where our problems lie. We can't significantly doubt our talent because we sure have it in abundance but just don't exploit it properly. However, I have a radical tactical option that may work a gem to somehow create some structure to a clueless list.
Mitch Robinson, in and out of the team consistently....why? Think I have found a role for him that could benefit us nicely. Get him playing our quarterback role who sits on the half-back flank and gets in front of the opposition forwards, clogging up their leading space, cutting out avenues to goal. Is as tough and as brave as any and will jump (aerially good too) in the way of power forwards and make that telling interception and take that hit that may well indeed inspire the group and freshen up tactics.
Then in an attacking role can look to go through him off the half back line---penetrating kick that can go a long way that can really crack the opposition wall set up and really get the ball moving into our forward line real fast rather than playing the chip it cluelessly game. Get two players (big man, little man) to sit in the forward 50 and stay there to try and drag the opposition back towards the goal square, therefore opening up the space on that half forward position. Everyone else should be more so in the centre square (i think bunched up) then look to break out wide and fast when hopefully robbo gets the ball on the back flank. We have quick, pacy players, need to somehow open the forward line up and the space so need to play a bit of a pagan's paddock type of game to crack the defence and more importantly drag the best defenders away from spoiling zones and breaking up our kicks that go forward.
