10 news says Rhys had a nerve twinge, has gone for scans but so far so good, nothing major expected to be found.

Confirmed. 10 News story "Injury Scare" says Rhys recieved a bump and felt a nerve twinge. Sent for precautionary scans only. Club is confident he has no major injury.

The beer is already colder and better...

There was no mention of the results of the precautionary scans though, I think this thread has jumped the gun.

Of course nothing is official yet. But any response from the club suggesting they feel it is minor is worth noting - far easier now to make it through to Monday injury report.

No one is saying he is as good as new, just 'ok'. It's better news to hit the hay with than before it was announced!

Myself and KPR (kickettpunchesread) were at training this morning when it happened. Looked very proppy on the knee when asked by one of the fitness staff to test it, shook his head straight away and walked off the oval very slowly and dejected. Was being consoled by a couple of team mates as well.

Hopefully channel 10 is right and its nothing major but from what we saw this morning he wasnt happy with what happened.

STOP IT im losing my buzz

I heard it on Sportstalk this evening. I gather nothing else has been mentioned about his knee? I'm sure Freo would love to get him on the park again this season. Hopefully not a huge setback for him!

Here's hoping young Rhys is ok. Hopefully as others have mentioned he is just overly cautious and things felt worse than they were!

6PR are stating it looks OK no damage.

His distress would be natural, given he came out of a season ending knee injury, any knock on his knee will be exacerbated by apprehension. I don't expect him to come out all guns blazing for the first few matches. He's gonna have to get over the psychological hump with game time, but shortly after that, he'll be back to his unaffected best.

Anyone got the inside word on Rhys' condition? Would love to know the non-media version.

So good news then Dr Ralph? Does that mean it probably WAS a pinched nerve and maybe Rhys is trying to do too much too soon?

This is what I reckon it is, from the reaction Mark Harvey gave when Palmer told him about the twinge I dont think he was too impressed he was involved in an actual drill. Even tho it was a non-contact handball keepy off.

Should have been sticking to the running like Timmy Ruffles who looks so much better in his action than Rhys. As KPR has said we were watching Rhys doing laps well before the incident and he was limping then so he cant be anywhere near 100% at the moment.

Well that's a relief - thanks for the update Dr Dagg.

I guess this serves as a timely reminder to the players and to us fans that we should be careful with players coming back from injury and not push them too hard.

It worries me that players come back from injury too early and I am convinced it is the reason why players's careers are becoming shorter and shorter.

I seem to recall someone who attended training saying how Rhys was begging the training staff to allow him to run even more laps! This goes to show that we should all (players and fans) trust our medical and training staff. I am confident they know what they are doing.:thumbsu:

I watched him closely last Wednesday doing the exact same drill and he looked a million dollars. As he did whilst doing laps.
And I assure you that he wouldn't be involved in those drills without the full approval of the medical team.
These things happen during rehab.
But that doesn't mean that you wrap them up in cotton wool.
The injured area has to be tested more strenuously as time goes by.

I bet they won't be letting him do that again for a while.
