Just wondering how the new draftee Rhys O'Keeffe is progressing? He impressed me very much on his Youtube highlight package with his decisive kicking and one grab attack on the ball.

Any chance he could debut this year?

If we cop a few injuries in our back half, maybe to Johnson, Scotland and players of the like he may debut. Hasn't been that great in the VFL and will be given time.

Don't think we'll see Rhys at all this year and that's exactly as it's meant to be. Longer-term project this one.

I would prefer it if we spent some of these draftees a full year or two in the VFL ... Sometimes I feel draftees get games way too early in their career, and they don't apprecaite it ..

It's unfortnate but the harsh reality is that players taken at ROK's number in the draft stastically dont' go on to having long and successful careers (generally) but i've yet to see enough of him to make an informed opinion, but clealry i wish him all the best.

From what I have seen of ROK so far, he's a very very neat left footer, who generally makes pretty sound decisions with his disposal. Not that quick, but he could become a reasonable linkman off half back. Went late as clubs would have thought he may be a bit of a one trick pony with questionable leg speed.

Give him a year with the Bullants to develop, and we might see him debut next year.

I didn't know who he was at the Ants but Thy confirmed it in another thread that he is the tall unit with bleeched blonde hair. Is a good size indeed.

Though.... I hate to say it,..... I see a lot of Hartlett in ROK. Not to do with ability, just the body shape and size, the talked-up left foot, the lack of pace, etc. Will watch him closely in the VFL this year to see if there is hope.

Let us pray that he isn't another Hartlett!!

sounds very martin mattner mould
reasonable comparison?
we need a hard at it half back flankers. would compliment us nicely

From the very little I've seen of him, I'd say he's a lot more solid than Mattner. Though I'm loathe to say it, probably closer in size to Hodge (NB: physical dimensions don't make a footballer).

One of the guys at work is a mate of his and says the hair thing is a team rule - late to training and it's either a shave or bleach.

He also says he had fluid in his chest before last week, which is why he got limited time in the last Bullants match.

Would love to see him play soon - mainly for the connection value, but also to see a tall hard-body with a sweet left boot impose himself on a HBF. I guess the prediction of a year in the VFL (bar injuries) is more realistic.

I doubt he would play this year and I reckon we should turn him into a forward, he has a nice kick on him, he is tall and strong enough.
