Is it just me or do players seem to turn the corner at Carlton? There have been plenty of players who have re-established themselves here (Carrazzo, Scotland etc.) .. and it's looking like we can add Haddles to the list.

honestly, in terms of players who have impressed me the most this year.. Hadley is up there. I love his hardness at the ball. it's something we haven't seen at Carlton in a while. His tackling and overall pressure seems to be second to one.. and when he has the footy, he's definitely been more than sound in his usage of it. He's like a better version of Adam Bentick, and taller at 190cm. Pick 52? lol, yes thank you.

All of this is compounded by the fact that he's coming back from 2 knee recos(*) isn't he?

What do you guys think? I'm excited by the bloke.

2 knee reco's

He has added a hard in an under player into the stoppages, took Bentick's spot and has been great for us. Hope his body holds out though, but for what we gave up for him the gamble is well worth it.

He has been a excellent addition to the team, someone with experience of playing in a premiership team.

He obviously knows what it takes for the club to get to the finals which fingers crossed won't be too far away.

2 recos on the same knee...

He will be a star and is still young. He adds some hardness that our midfield was sorely lacking. HE has a super positive attitude about the club and is excelling with the change of scenery from Brisbane, which is not surprising though after over 2 years of back to back recovery training in the gym, effectively on his own.

Great player one of my favourites at the club. He was going along the way to be becoming a great footballer at Brizzy until the knee sh1t itself. Matthews was very dissapointed when he chose to leave, and we are seeing exactly why he will be missed at brisbane. Can't put my finger on exactly what it is about him, but he reminds me of one of my all time favourite players being Adrian Hickmott. Let's all hope he has success with his fitness and success with the BLUES..

i think your spot on there!!

just goes hard, doesnt know what soft is!!! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

This has to be one of out best ever trading years, Judd, Kreuzer, Hadley, Pfeiffer, Armfield and Browne.
Technically last year was, but your spot on mate. It would be great if we could backup that effort this year and create a wider spread of depth accross the whole team. Greater success is on it's way just not sure when it will arrive.

He is a great example of a player improving, takes a step forward every round, he is only going to get better and fitter and be a valuable asset on the ball.

Love his work rate and professional attack on the ball.

Don't forget about the big fella Cloke. He has been invaluable to our set up so far this season.:thumbsu:

But we have had some bad ones like all teams.... Stephen O'Reily, Mick Maguane just to name a few.

Blues by 21 pts Vs the crows and FEV to kick 6

With him, Judd and Stevens returning to 100% fitness, and the addition of Walker (will be underdone, but playing nonetheless) it promisses to be a great second half of the year for us.

I know a lot of fans dont like to talk about finals yet, and I dont know if we can make it, but if we can stay around the mark, and get a few cheap wins to bring us up to 5 wins for the first half of the season, I think all the potential is there to for us to have a strong run home, particulary when 11/12 wins should be enough this year seeing as it appeas to be close.

absolutely loved this guy when he was at brisbane and am disappointed that we didn't get what he was worth at trade week. far better player than pick 52, but he was going to go in the PSD if we didn't trade so you guys basically told us to bend over while you fetched the biggest pole you could find... not that i'm mad cos it makes good sense for carlton, but along with michael we've lost two good players for nicks now. tbh i think in future you will look back and realise just how well you did when he is playing his 150th in navy. =(

good luck hadz

big fan of hadley here. has become one of my faves and you know what else i noticed, his become somewhat a face of carlton (in just his first season in the navy blue!) if u have a look on cfc tv he's practically on every video!

Very excited about Hadley.

Really enjoying what he brings to us, i can see why Mathews was keen to keep hold of him, as everyone has said earlier his hardness at the ball and the contest is just great something that we have definately missed, his skills are also top shelf.

I don't think it will be long before we see R.Hadley in Carltons leadership group.

I honestly think he's been one of the pickups of the year, league wide. He gives us exactly what we've missed for years. Tough, hard in and under extractor of the footy. Big fan

What we've done very well is identify talent from other clubs who, mainly due to injury, haven't been able to make the grade at their original club. You have a look at the likes of Cloke, Scotland plus a few others in the past like Spaulding, Lappin and perhaps French, they were generally very good players who left for more opportunities or because they were de-listed. Then Carlton came along.;)
Hadley is obviously a very good player, very injury prone but played in a premiership in what, his 14th match? Remember also that Brisbane were very reluctant to let him go, and to trade him for pick no.52 only is a huge bargain.
Darren Pfeiffer is looking like a good player for us too, he was also wretched with injuries during his time at Adelaide but then we came along and will probably only improve further.

If hadley can keep it up this week along with juddy and co we'll be in for a major chance to knock and entre the top 8 so i can't see em not try if ya only a game out of the top 8 it be silly to try and lose it
