We often see argument most recently from hawthorn boosters about just where richmond stand as a crowd draw in our game. We often respond that we would see a different story if we had a team

Lets look at facts. I have looked at every year in which we have finished in the top Four in the ladder since attendance records begin in 1921 and seen where we stood as home game crowdpullers.

Total Top 4 ladder finishes: 31

Number 1 Home attendances: 18 including 8 at Punt road
Number 2: 5. All at Punt road
Number 3: 5.
Number 4: 2
Number 5: 1.

It is a statement of fact to say that historically when we go top 4 we are more often than not the biggest draw in domestic Australian sport and are top Three over 90% of the time. Whether any club in the game can compete with those figures is questionable. Probably Collingwood but none other adn those stats show just how silly the hawks sound.

Words do not describe how meaningless this is with todays game. If you have time to research this then you have time to get out of your house and talk to real people.

Same thing could have been said in the 1950s when we were poor. What happened? After 20 years the tigers re emerged adn blew everyone away as a crowdpuller. In 2001, last time we finalled we were oly a couple of thousand a game off Essendon and Collingwood at home. Huge and that only a one off. They were REAL PEOPLE mate.

how often have you hawks topped the attendance charts as we have done over 30 times? Answer: ZERO. You don't even beloong in the conversation.

We go top 4 we usually are number 1. Where are you? 5th is it?

Most Hawks are too young to know reality!

End of discussion.

So what? Once again a meaningless statistic. Also anyone with half a brain knows that you can pull one statistic to backup any argument. I am not saying you are wrong. Richmond's bandwagon supporter base is huge. What I meant is what you are stating it is pointless and meaningless.

If you want me to pull this same statistic against you like you have to Hawthorn I could say that with all your supporters how come you are not up there with memberships with as you said the Essendon's and Collingwood's? See the same statistic you said is now been used against you. I am not trying to have a go at you. Just saying it was meaningless and redundant.

I'd like to know how long it took you to do this.

No time at all. Easily done in 15 mins on stats.rleague.

jiphoc is suggesting I have pulled one statistic to make a point.

Not quite. What I have done is "pulled" 31 stasistics over a period from the 1920 to 2001 revealing the tigers time and again drawing massively and topping the attendance charts when in the top 4.

A stat is maningless. 31 stats all pointing to one conclusion is what is called a trend.
