I'm excited for this one so I decided to start one pretty early. We already have a IN's thread but this is just general discussion on key matchups etc ..

Essendon are just a completely different side with Lloyed in the team. It's as if it changes not only their structure but mentality to a massive degree. Lloyed and Lucas are the biggest worries. Lloyed loves to kick a bag against us and Lucas has been in great form all year.

I'm not worried as much for Davey as I think he is an excitement machine that can be turned off with a heavy tag but Lloyed and Lucas will be tough match up on.

They will try and stretch our ruck stocks as well this week. David Hille is very good around the grounds although an average tap ruckman.

I still think we can win this in the midfield. We should try our best to test out the leg speed of the bombers midfielders as they aren't the quickest side in the league. Maybe a good oppurtunity for Deledio?

Also really need Shultz to stand up against a very good defence (Fletcher, Michael) and maybe even if Riewoldt plays to get a few out of him although expecting anything magical from a first gamer is a bit tough on a kid. If Kingsley plays you'd hope he'd snare 3-4 cheapies too. :P

There forward line will destroy us, we just have to make sure it dosent get down there to often.

And they will have decent match ups for our players, Michael, Fletcher and McPhee are probably all capable of doing touch-ups on our younger players(Schulz, Riewoldt and Hughes) Im hoping they playing Kingsley of the bench, to stretch their defence personally.

I think we are going to be massively disappointed after this Round, like the Collingwood game.

We all think we're pretty good things this week (I think we have a chance to win) but I wouldn't be surprised if the Dons won by 30+ points. Its just got that written all over it.

Give the job on Lloyd to Joel, even though he plays well on Lucas. If Lloyd is a little slower 'cause of his hammies, maybe play Polak on him and Joel on Lucas. Thursfield gets Johns. If Laycock plays forward, chuck Polak on him. Hopefully McGuane is fit to play.

Kingy on Davey
Newman on Hird

Johns and Laycock didn't play last week.

Don't know if there's much point tagging Davey. He doesn't get a heap of it anyway, most of the stuff he does is either defensive chasing down opposition players and the stuff he does do offensively would be hard to stop anyway. If anyone i'd try to curb Winderlich's influence on the game through a tag, as when he gets going we look a lot better.

i think KK is a certainty to play with either Hughes or JR to be included given the experience they have in defence

Good luck this weekend guys. I think this is a real danger game for the Dons. It wouldn't suprise me if Richmond broke their drought against us.

The key factor in this game will be midfield, in my opinion if Essendon don't win enough ball in the middle or turn it over at half forward too often the Tigers are in with a massive chance. I really looking forward to seeing Deledio playing, haven't managed to see him play live yet.

Cheers

Just reported on nine news that Riewoldt will make his debut this week so it's official and about bloody time as well.

Really looking forward to the game this week , I follow Geelong but have been to many Richmond games this year, have to say there my second team. The Tigers are starting to show a little of the goods lately and there hungry . I think they can pull of the win
