I'm 25, been a hugely passionate fan since forever as is my whole family (bar one rogue turncoat Uncle), been just as disappointed by dashed hopes and wooden spoons as everyone else, move to Japan, and they ****in come good!

Thanks Tiges, I'll be back in 2013 or 2014 and I bet you'll be shit again.

That said if we make the finals I'm coming straight back. Here's to smashing St Kilda, then Freo, then GWS, and being 7-5 after 12. Carn the Tiges!

I thought (and kind of hoped) the same thing would happen when I moved overseas but alas, it was to no avail. 2014 is when we will be hitting our peak with the players we currently have in my opinion.

My biggest concerns are that so will GC + GWS. If they manage to nail and hang onto most or all of their high draft picks, we will most probably be playing for 3rd. Fingers crossed we build a champion team that beats the team of really, really high draft picks.

Japan is a lot closer/cheaper than the UK/Canada (where I was living) at least.

25 is pretty close to around when we started to be shit...

I've done the math - you're obviously the one who's been giving us bad luck.

I ban you from coming back. Soz brah.

I was about the same age when I lived overseas and missed our 2001 campaign. I got back for the 2005 season and things looked good for a short while before back to the tigers I'd grown up with.

August 1995 I am anticipating finals.

My boss who couldnt care less about football walks up to me and says that I need to do some work in Tasmania.

I say when? and she tells me the dates.

Leave the night that Richmond played North Melbourne in the first final and come back Grand Final day. At least in Tassie you can watch all finals live on television.

I still don't understand why I was in Launceston that day that Richmond beat Essendon. What am I Hawthorn?

There is a common thread through all of this. Maybe we can get enough Richmond supporters to organise for us to go on a group holiday for the next three years so they can have success.

Yep same situation (im 25 too) still early days this year but missing these wins is killing me.

Don't know if i'll be able to fly home should anything happen later in the year.
Stay away. Storm look like finally winning a premiership legitmately and the Tiges are up.

I was doing my two-year hiatus in the UK and Europe during the Northey rennaisance years of 94 and 95. Back then there was no way of watching footy unless you went to a place called the London Explorers Club in a small suburb called Bayswater on a Thursday night where they had three hour-long videos from the previous week sent to them to play in the bar. The games were random so there was no way of telling what they were going to be. Fortunately when we won 6 in a row in 94, they had our games sent pretty much every week. And my late grandfather would send my all the newspaper clipps every week (no internet back then).
Good times.

(gee I feel old:o)

Important to remember we have these high draft picks as well they are just spread over multiple drafts.

Deledio pick 1
Cotchin pick 2
Dustin pick 3
Vickery pick 8
Conca pick 6
Brandon Ellis pick 14
Ben Griffiths pick 19

Was thinking the exact same.
Let's not forget pick 13 jack - kpp's take longer so I think it's worth adding him in. And a few gems from deeper in those drafts in batch and grimes.
And our guys won't be getting homesick for west Sydney.
Go Tiges!

I have to go to Canada for September 6 - 16 this year. If we make finals for the first time in 11 years and I miss it, I will kill myself.

LOL...same...well my parents sent the occasional back of the Age to me in Japan. I used to every monday get the national paper "The Japan Times' that had sports results, but since Sunday games never made it in, often I would have no idea what was happening with the Tigers (not much it seems), and even then it just had the final scores of games.

Internet came, then speeds increased for streaming to the 'puter, then optic fibre and watching all the games on TV. An Australian guy opened a bar and started importing Australian beer as a novelty for the Japanese (with his kangaroo burgers), and I could get a doz (beers that is) and head home and watch games live chugging down the good stuff!

But on the OP...always said if we made it to the last weekend in September, I would drop everything and be on the plane to the G. Thankfully I am a lot closer now to do it, and more importantly can sniff a bit a success coming....would do from Siberia anyway mind you!!

I'm 29 been a fan since I was 3 so has been quite a journey but one I have loved and cherished, my heart is yellow and black through and through. I truly believe this dawn is not a false one. :thumbsu:

My first football memory is attending the 1982 grand final. How ****ing cruel is that?
Your first game and your first strip show rolled into one.:D

Good to see there are others who are sharing the curse with me, I legitimately believed I was the one bringing us down haha.. :(

I've been using http://www.afl.livesport.tv/home and streaming the games live, 10 bucks for a week subscription or 100 for the year I think, can watch any match live and all replays too. Been an absolute godsend, but nothing beats being there..

What a win against the Saints too, especially with some dubious Saints free kicks in the second half that kept them in it at stages. Even in previous years we've had the wood on Freo, so in our current form we should be certainties, and only one hell of a shocker like Cazaly stadium vs. Gold Coast last year should stop us beating GWS and being a nice 7-5 at the bye when we couldve been more like 9-3 or 10-2. I'm feeling good about this not being a false dawn myself, even if it isn't until 2013 or 14 for a real crack at a flag.
