Credit to Petterd for his first 3 quarters but he scared the **** out of me in the last seeming to take the incorrect option, which could have been the nail in the coffin for us.
That said, the bad outweighed the good and he has the experience to deliver more than any other option we have to replace him.
you prob should have mentioned his 2 involvements in the last 4 minutes where he found gordon with a subterainean slap in heavy traffic that found gordon in space for that goal and then beautifully cleared a path for martin in the sealer after dusty fumbled it and nearly stuffed it up.

I don't recall him taking the incorrect option... I do recall him at the bottom of the pack in the goal square tapping the ball out to Gordon to put us back in front though... that was a correct option. His desperation is vital to the side.

Martin made more skill errors by foot than Petterd last night.

I'll tell you how silly this thread is.
He hasn't looked like playing a bad game, not even close to it for the whole time people are shitcanning him.

Rickys defensive pressure and tackling is the best in our team. Also when he goes forward he is very smart. Doesn't get in the way of the talls and knows where to lead. I'm really impressed with his entire season. I thought when we were losing it was not because of him.

Has been enormous for us. Confess to still getting a little nervous with some of his pitching wedge kicks, but has been playing very well.

Petterd could be the next Jake King for us, not the cult figure part, but his ferocious attack on the football makes him a valuable player in our side. He may not have the best kick or the best at making decisions, but he has the ability to win the contested footy in tight situations and tap it out from the bottom of a pack, which he did a few times last night.

petterd has made about 10 blunders all year, his decision making is first class, his stuff ups are because his execution can be a bit haphazard or in a couple of instances were freakish opposition efforts (cyril jumping 3 metres).. agreed needs to work on his 9 iron kicking.

Have any other clubs squeezed as much out of the rookie list as us over the past two years? We've got arguably 3 best 22 players from it in that time (Miles, Petterd, Thomas), with possibly another to come (Darrou).

I stand corrected. My mind was stuck on that horrendous kick to the wing with about 10 minutes left that Tex fortunately fumbled out of bounds.

Having watched the replay I agree with you. That one kick was the irrelevant outlier in a quality final quarter.

It was a shocker, but he wasn't on his Pat Malone there. How about Dusty's horror kick into the forwardline after fluffing the bounce on the wing? The whole team lost its composure for a while there.

His ball drop isn't the most attractive around. Guys like Matt De Boer and Ben Johnson have played in Grand Final sides. Petterd is sorta the same, looks ugly but his results are great. 2nd efforts and tackling are great. Little touches like the one to Gordon aren't noticed by Alistair Lynch or the Fox analysts.... Love him.

I havent been his number 1 fan, not his worst critic either tho... But watching live on Saturday night I was happy with his output, and when I find myself saying "go Ricky Bobby" numerous times, i suggest he went allright!

Grigg on the other hand tho, still yet to convince me that his slection is not taking the opportunity away from someone else (younger with more potential upside).

I just wish he didn't encourage Conca to scissor kick GWS players in the back of the head like a spider monkey
