It's a pity Warne has tarnished his career with so many moments of idiocy as he looked to be an Australian captain in waiting at one stage.

His captaincy looked particularly adept during the 1998/99 one-day series.

Yep - looked to be an outstanding captain and had he not tarnished his image at certain stages would most likely have got the nod in front of Steve Waugh when Tubby retired.

I wonder if Warney ever reflects on that. Could have gone down in history as not only the greatest spinner of all time, but as one of the greatest captains as well!
