Beach volleyballer Natalie Cook (1996 gold medalist) come up with the phrase that finishing 4th was like winning a Potato medal when interviewed by Roy and HG back at Athens 2004. So on this thread post who has definitely finished 4th, their event and what result they recorded compared to 3rd to see how close they were to a medal. I can just hear Roy and HG

You've opened up some deep wounds. In London, the day Magnussen pissed everyone off. The delectable Kathleen Hersey, who was fastest qualifier and fastest in the semis, finished 4th in the 200 Butterfly. She does not have a Olympic medal. It's a day I lament.

Thought she'd need to break through the 53 second barrier to have any chance of a medal. Looks like she just wasn't up to it this time.

Women's cycling team sprint miss bronze by 0.022 of a second.

Men's cycling Team Sprint missed bronze by 0.155 of a second.

Apparently this team has finished 4th at the last 4 Olympics and the total time of missing the bronze is less than .4 seconds. Truly potatoes of the highest order
