Think I might put a 10er on Armfield and Grigg :)
The only thing i am a bit iffy about was that he may not be eligible i am not sure on when he turns 21, because they have odds there for Scott Thompson from North, and i know he is not eligible

The AFL Rising Star Award was instituted in 1993 to recognise and encourage talented young players in the AFL. After each round of home and away games, a player is nominated and at the end of the season a panel of experts selects the winner. The winner must be under the age of 21 at January 1 of that year, must not have played more than 10 games to the start of that season and must not have been suspended by the AFL or State League tribunals during the season (as with the Brownlow Medal, players found guilty of certain offences and fined or reprimanded by the Tribunal remain eligible to win the award). I think we know why Armfield has such short odds hehe.

Because a bottom age player who has just removed his rocker boot has had a full pre-season? ;)

Grigg is a huge chance as a second year player.

I think it's too hard for Leuenberger to win the award when he has Charman and McDonald for competition.

Hampson is a better shot at winning if he's managed right and supports the undersized Cloke or Ackland as number two ruck coming off the bench.

Hey General,

Is that Hampson in your avatar?

If so, he looks as if he can leap tall buildings!
He's a freak!

He will be a very very good player, but I can't see him getting close in 2008. If he doesn't play too many games this year, and is still eligble in 2009, he'll be a big chance then. A bottom aged TAC player that is still pretty skinny shouldn't be expected to do too much in his first year on an AFL list.

By going by everyone around him grounded he's jumped it's a 35-45cm max jump. Barely frightening.

17. Carlton - Shaun Hampson
State: QLD, Club: Mt Gravatt Height: 200.8 Weight: 93.1
Developing young ruckman with only 2 years experience in the game switching from soccer. Quick and agile, played for QLD at U18 level this year. Recorded 3.00sec for 20m at NAB AFL Draft Camp, outstanding for his size, coupled with an 86cm vertical leap, placing him in the top 5% of players tested.

Can we clarify whether Armfield is actually eligible yet???
If he is i think it would definetly be worth putting a few dollars on him.

Turned 21 on the 22nd of December, meaning he wouldn't be eligible.

Doesn't get much more black and white than that...
