Riska Gooooonnneee!!!!

I still hope the rumours of him being told not to go to the B & F are untrue! If he does announce it tomorrow which seems likely, you would have to suggest there has been a flare up at the club about it! Only a couple of days ago they were reporting he wanted to announce his intentions after the B & F!

Seems like man management is a real problem sadly!

Hutchy mentioned that the Lions still haven't been told.

I cant say I trust Hutchenson at all - the guy is a lowlife IMHO with his gutter journalism (will never forgive how he thought it was a good idea to chase ben cousins all the way to US amongst other things)

unless they change the votes on the night he would have to be up there with a chance - if he wins and hes not theere it will be a major embassasment

As much as I hate losing Rischa and it ending like that a major embarrasment might be the wakeup call the powers that be need

It really sucks to see you guys lose such a great player that the club has put time and money into, and for WHAT? A bloody number in a draft for a kid. Just doesn't seem fair.....:thumbsd:

after the way he was treated last year we are lucky we got one good year from him

this one is 100% the club's fault

Are him and Brennan really that much of a loss? I know they are easily in our top 10 players but in the grand scheme of things, is it a massive hit on the club to lose them? I personally would rather lose both of them, over say keeping them both and losing Drummond, who is essential to our team.

With how our midfield has been travelling loosing our most consistent performer is a definite blow.

Rischa is not, and never will be elite, he is not a "weapon" as he lacks both pace and good disposal. What he is is a hard working grunt midfielder who does the good defensive stuff. Rockliff, Redden and Polkinghorne look more than capable of playing this role for us in the future. What we really need are more dynamic, pacy types as we rebuild our midfield.

He is still a loss, to say otherwise would just be lying, but it's not a massive loss that is going to rip the heart out of the club or anything. He would be much more valuable playing alongside and complementing an elite midfield rather than carrying our current setup.

Like you, I'd much rather keep Drummond who is a much more vital and irreplaceable cog in our setup.

If Riska hadn't played the go-home-card to force the club to pay him on potential which he then didn't deliver on, do you think he would've been on the trade table in the first place?

Cool, hope Hutchy gets it right for once and that it's all done and dusted tomorrow. Good Luck Rischa! Hope the Lions use their 2nd rd. pick wisely whenever it's used.

Possibly not unprecedented in Brisbane - Nathan Buckley said in his book All I Can Be that he thinks the then-Bears might have fiddled the votes on the night of the B&F back in 1993, and gave the award to Michael McLean instead of him, as he was known a long way in advance to be leaving the club.

what go-home card???

It's no great secret that in previous contract negotiations over the years, Rischa and his management leveraged the go home factor to a considerable degree to squeeze out maximum value.

So you just take that as gospel then?

Yeah I think we're on the same page. I'm not saying either are not going to be a loss. I admit they are easily in our top 10 players. I just feel that they can both be covered, or to put it differently, won't leave a giant hole in our team, as say a Drummond, who I believe is virtually our key to any sort of success next year (Brown excluded).

And can you name one person thats going to the same job michael has???? Id like to know

Comparing apples with cucumbers atmo - Josh and Michael are two totally difference players.

and BronwnDog ......i dont see anyone having a tizzie over bradshaw doing the same thing.

sorry but Vossy and the club made its bed, we now are going to lie in it.

Serious?

Heaps of people have, and still do make reference to Bradshaw's contract negotiations over the years. It comes up all the time.

It's disappointing to lose good players and in retrospect it may have been a strategic error, but I can't fathom how people argue it's perfectly kosher for players to treat footy as a business but admonish clubs for doing the same thing.

Can't imagine how he got his nickname. ;)

In this case the club could well improve its compensation by ensuring Riska wins the B+F. I think he's done well enough to win it fair and square though.

since this whole gold coast thing started all i read and hear about how disloyal the players are when its OK for them to be delisted when the club doesnt want them. whielst there have been some that have we are more forgiving when its him we are talking about.

its either all or nothing - both parties can have it both ways you know
