As of the Feb 27th, you will no longer be able to access your clubs Rivals site.

We have been given the chop as they have formed a new company with football365.

Tell all the people of Rival to come over here after 27/2. The more the merrier. :)

It's a shame that we don't have Rivals as I used to get the Richmond team each Thurdsay night off that site at about 5pm without fail.

:D :D ;) ;)

Yes hawkfan5 will come to the rescue too.

I am very dissapointed to see the Rivals Site finished.

There really were some top sites in the Rivals thing, I will certainly miss HawksHeaven, and Mags, I will also miss your site, it was a very good site, even from an opposition supporter.

Cheers

Just because the Rivals network has fallen over doesn't mean excellent sites like Old Dark Navys and TigerFury need to die (where is CJH by the way?).

Most ISPs give you a certain amount of webspace, you just use that instead. Sure, the network had advantages, but why can't we all network through here anyway.

I'll be compiling a list of sites Hawk Headquarters - what I consider to be the best independent sites - and attempting to get some sort of ring established with them. There's also the AFL Web-ring, and of course search engines.

Good people like ODNs, CJH, Mags, Amanda from Hawks Heaven and Steve from Red & White online shouldn't be lost - it's just a case of finding another outlet.

It's disappointing Mags :( I was actually looking at your site the other day and reading a few of the articles, a good read :)
The Port site too was second best behind the official one where you could find out some cool things.

In the case of BulldogsUnleashed.com, I couldn't be happier.

That so called "supporter" that runs it can go get f*cked ... and take the unmitigated negative bullshlt he's been spouting all year with him.

Feel for ODN's, CJH, Mags and the like who's intent with their sites wasn't to criticise and humilate their own clubs. Although I didn't usually visit them unless we were playing them the next week/ saw a link on Bigfooty etc., there were a lot of interesting and informative articles and rants there.

gotta be a window of opportunity one would think wouldn't you Bluey ?

unofficial home pages under the banner of BF ?

Satay Mat

Mags - I do wish you had consulted with the other publishers before posting such a topic.

Yes it is true that Rivals have given notice to the AFL sites, along with a couple of hundred other sites they have had on their network.

However, at present the publishers from the rivals sites have made no firm decisions about what will or won't happen with their sites after Feb 28th. Some sites may stay online as independent sites, or all sites may come together as a new network, or even a combination of both.

As the final announcement was only sent to Rivals AFL publishers in the early hours of this morning, it is a bit too soon to be speculating about the total demise of all the sites.

All that is sure is that the sites won't be on the rivals network after Feb28th.

 What the hell happened Westy?? I go to that site a fair bit...during the season anyway...and i didn't notice anything like that...maybe it was on the message board??

Anyway..i hope the site relocates...i mean...i gotta defend the tipping comp and superdog comp which i won last year :D

Thanks for the kind words. As Danni said, it's too early to know what to do. I'm finding particularly hard as my talent (or lack thereof) laid in my content and not in website building. I know little of how to go to the next step and so will rely on my fellow publishers for guidance or maybe blind luck.

Just a side note, CJH stepped aside at the Tigers Rivals site late last year to concentrate on other things so is not running it any longer.

Cheers

That's not good - while they were competition for BigFooty they were good for the supporters.

All Rivals site owners contact me and I'll see what we can do about finding you homes. Even you Mags.

I can't offer you a share in ad revenue (there isn't any ad revenue on the web for smaller sites) but I can probably offer you a home.

This'll be a shame 'cause it looked like a bit of work went into Bomberblitz.

According to the Bomberblitz site, it will continue on with "business as usual" after they get kicked off that Rivals server but on a new server

So that's 1 of the 16 sites that will still be around

I can say (and probably on behalf of the other Eagle supporters) that we did appreciate the efforts of EaglesFlyingHigh.com and the regular news and stories that were posted there.

Hope that some can stay alive or continue on here at BigFooty
