Francis when he got his timing right looked like a forward, he likes to jump at the ball which was nice to see, just play him there for the rest of the season to get a much better reading of his abilities. Next week he may do even less against a good Dogs team but don't get discouraged, give him round 22 and then round 23.

Problem is Laverde looked injured and Francis is a closer like-for-like replacement than BZT would be.

Here's a revolutionary idea: We play both given Heppell might have a broken hand too. Have that thing where we don't have someone like Cutler on Jamarra.

If Laverde isn't injured, he isn't injured. If he's injured and can't play, he's injured and can't play. You can't negotiate with his shoulder to not be injured because Heppell is out.

Maybe twice in the second quarter but I thought his jumps and timing looked way off..certainly to what we see when he’s on defence. The few times he has played forward he’s looked lost. Think the club needs to make a decision if they want him as a forward then at least train him for whole pre season in that role.

No doubt, he needs time in the role, 1-4 weeks isn't going to tell you enough. If he and the coaches agree on him forward then his pre season is built around that idea.

I for one hope not. Prefer him in defence. A few times he even sort of wandered off instead of going on with second effort to tackle

?
Jake had as much midfield time as he has previously.
Looking at the CBAs this season up to R19 (R20 not available yet unless you want to count them yourself) – it looks like Shiel picked up Smith's midfield time, which had been Langford's before he did his hamstring?

CBA's out for this week.

Stringer down to 68% after not dropping below 84% the previous 6 weeks.

Parish and Merrett also down 10% and 5% respectively. I'd be keeping the aforementioned three at their normal rate for the past 6 weeks and slotting in Shiel in the other ~30%.

Are we talking total midfield time or center bounces ? I was looking at center bounces as there is a cross over with Stringer and he does move into the high half forward role.
We do not need Jakes total midfield time to be 80%. What he does for us is the center clearance work.
Stringer is the better forward. Shiel is the better player as a general midfielder. Like I keep saying. People have covet amnesia and seem to forget Shiel is rated elite as a midfielder he was also just as good as Parish in 2019 . How is it you can not play 3 elite midfielders and have them getting around equal time. ?
