Blues need to be on the ball this coming Friday against the Hawks.

They've been pretty good in their last 2 games, and if Carlton are napping, they'll lose.
I'd say that this game will have a big impact on the 05 season.
1 win + 1 draw after 6 rounds will be a tough spot to come back from if we are thinking of September

Should be a great game a geat crowd.

Hawthorn are bringing more and more supporters every week, while Carlton already have plenty of support.

50 000 I rekon, great atmosphere for each team, great game lets hope and lets hope we can have many more "big game" encounters just like in the 1980's,1990's and up to 2001.

Bring on Generation X

I think Hawthorn at the moment have an unexperienced side with a mediocre backline. Their fwd line is the most dangerous with the likes of Williams and Franklin up there. If we play corridor footy we will win.

Mediocre Backline? Ok so Croad, Hodge, Smith are mediocre? If Fev doesnt play, Croad will DOMINATE....

Williams is a massive danger for you guys, who can you honestly match him up with, he may kick 5 this week...

How things turn.

At the start of the season we had a strong defence and a mediocre forward line. Then again we werent supposed to be competitive either.

Cant wait for this one, bring on Friday Night footy

3 players dont make up a backline. And Teague can stop Williams.

Teague is one of the best defenders in the game, I think this match-up could be the best on the ground.

I'd be surprised to see Teague line up on Williams as he seems totally unsuitable. I think Denis will be more likely to opt for the likes of a Carazzo or even Norman who both have some pace.

If Hawthorn can't beat Carlton this week they deserve the wooden spoon.

Seriously for a team to have to travel to Adelaide, then travel to Perth then only get a 6 day break is ridiculous, they will be flat as tacks on Friday night and struggle to run the game out at the end.

We'll be alright. Our form the last couple of weeks have been patchy and wasteful, but good as a whole. I expect the boys to be fired up for this match. We always seem to bounce back after a dissapointing loss, so I expect it'll be the same this week.

One other thing, we're playing a night game. We're 4 wins and a draw from night games this season. :D

So who is Thornton going to play on????
I don't think Norman will do well on Williams!!

Thornton will probably have to zone off & pick up Spider if he goes forward.

Carazzo to pick up Harry Miller.

Its a bit of a no name forward line for the Hawks, so the match ups will be very interesting.

Teague to pick up Barker perhaps ?
Possibly Prenda on Franklin if he is ready to come back.

Watch out for Trent Croad, with Fev more than likely out, wouldnt be suprised to see him come down from defence & pop up in the F50.

MUST BLANKET Crawford & Hodge......under 30 possetions between them & we win.

Thornton might play on Barker or Franklin and if Thornton does get Franklin the Teague will get Barker. Norman never does well anyway, the only good game he played was against West Coast last year.

Yes, but that good game was against a fast leading (& at that stage in form) Phil Matera.
We dont have the Luxury of a back up KPP capable of holding down a defensive post.
Diggers did well late last year as a 3rd tall down back, supporting Thornton & Livvo. His output when upgraded to #2 or #1 defender.........well we have seen the results this year.

Norman will probably get a gig untill Livvo is back (unless he sinks to pathetic lows).

His upside is good - quick, good skills - its his brain fades that let him down.

Lets hope he plays a blinder sooner rather than later to at least create pressure for KPP positions down back.

He has certainly gone backwards though in his progress this year.

One further thing, it appears we are grooming an abundance of KPP - forwards, where is our next batch of CHB's / FB's coming from ?
Trades or next years draft ?

It is ordinary but hey, that's the AFL! If any coach in the comp can find a way though,it's yours, great man Denis!

this is a very important game for the blues. if we dont get over hawthorn and richmond in these two upcoming rounds, we could be in trouble.

Pleeeeaaase people!! Hawthorn aren't even in the same league as us. They beat Brisbane and all of a sudden everyone fears them. Comon!! We're talking about the spoon favourites here!

Looking forward to this weeks game. I think that we have the fire power in the midfield to possible outgun Hawthorn but we might struggle in other areas of the game.

I know we should win but im very very very nervous about Fridays game and in everything being taken into account Hawthorn have the ability to get run ons and with there youthfull list could blow us away.

Verdict is the Blue boys by 2 goals in what should be a tale of 2 completley different sides competing for the points.
